Four albums in ten years nigga? I can divide

Eminem doesn't deserve to be up there for me, I'd have Nas, Rakim, Mos Def, KRS One, Lupe Fiasco, Biggie and Kanye all above him as pure lyricists. When it comes to storytelling he's even further down the list.

A brilliant lyric from Kanye in "Can't tell me nothing"

Pressure, what's your pleasure, life is a- uh- depend on how you dress her
So if the devil wears Prada, Adam, Eve wear nada, I'm in between but way more fresher...

Brilliant lyric addressing so many issues.

plan b - sik 2 def

Let me do what nas did and tell that shit in reverse.
the hirst brings the corpse back to the morgue.
the guy from the morgue undresses the corpse
Embalming fluid goes back out and blood goes back in
Body goes back to hospital where it comes alive again
The medics walk backwards like an Irish dance
Put the wounded man back in the am-bulance
the ambulances engine turns back on and his lights flash as it plays his favourite song
the guy goes back to the exact spot they found him and the medics and and all the passers by go back where they came from
Till eventually
No-one surrounds him
and the blood pours up him rather than down him.
The man then falls upwards back on his feet and stumbles towards a dark figure on the other side of the street.
He walks into the blade that cut his belly
then he holds his neck which was bleeding already.
He removes his hand so you can see the cut.
And as the knife undoes the slice it closes back up
He unsays the words he said which were "What The Fuck"
And unscreams the scream from the first initial cut
then the blood from he severely severed ear crawls back up his cheek and slowly disappears.
as the knife wielding silhouette unhacks it from the rear.
Puts the knife away after reattaching the ear
then walks backwards through the bushes where he's disregarding nature
Who's the guy on the bench unreading his paper
Takes the snail he stepped on back from its creator
Only to be killed again when I fast forward this shit later
back in his house now back in his bed
He un-listens to a CD and un-bops his head
take's the CD out the player and puts it back in its case which has my name on the cover along with my face
Fast forward there's been a murder and the police know who's done it.
not lookin for a motive coz they don't know why he done it.
Sure enough it don't take that long for them to find a reason and they publicly state it on TV that evening
A couple of months later this shit gets banned
Like it was me who put that switch in his hand and told him to kill that man.
Like this whole song was some sickly devised plan to hurt some poor **** I don't even know and ive never met before in my life.
whoever said "the pen is mightier than the sword" was right so you better think twice before you step to me and pick a fight
You're not seriously trying to compare Plan fecking B to Nas?

you listened to who needs actions when youve got words? seriously plan b's more lyrically talented. plan b's defimation album is shite, i agree but it takes someone gifted to produce a beat and a reformation of the rolling stones 'paint it black'

i suggest you listen to his bootleg called 'paint it blacker, he covers nirvana an lots more.

As the thread has evolved I'd like to say Joe Budden is so underrated, he's lyrically brilliant, but does not do the whole bling things or make 'ringtone rap' so he's quite low key (other than pump it up) he's well worth a listen... try that one below.

Also I like 300 bars by the game, just for ripping into 50 pence and its good to play 'name the song' to all the different beats in the back...

All of the games fiddy disses were class. And for carconar to say em is no where near the top is laughable!

Yeah I've got the album mate, it's a good album by todays standards but to say he's up there lyrically with all time greats of the genre is pushing it and then some.

Rappers I monkey flip 'em with the funky rhythm I be kickin
Musician, inflictin composition
of pain I'm like Scarface sniffin cocaine
Holdin a M-16, see with the pen I'm extreme, now
Bulletholes left in my peepholes
I'm suited up in street clothes
Hand me a nine and I'll defeat foes
Y'all know my steelo with or without the airplay
I keep some E&J, sittin bent up in the stairway
Or either on the corner bettin Grants with the celo champs
Laughin at baseheads, tryin to sell some broken amps
G-Packs get off quick, forever niggaz talk shit
Remeniscing about the last time the Task Force flipped
Niggaz be runnin through the block shootin
Time to start the revolution, catch a body head for Houston
Once they caught us off guard, the Mac-10 was in the grass and
I ran like a cheetah with thoughts of an assassin
Pick the Mac up, told brothers, "Back up," the Mac spit
Lead was hittin niggaz one ran, I made him backflip
Heard a few chicks scream my arm shook, couldn't look
Gave another squeeze heard it click yo, my shit is stuck
Try to cock it, it wouldn't shoot now I'm in danger
Finally pulled it back and saw three bullets caught up in the chamber
So now I'm jetting to the building lobby
and it was filled with children probably couldn't see as high as I be
(So whatchu sayin?) It's like the game ain't the same
Got younger niggaz pullin the triggers bringing fame to they name
and claim some corners, crews without guns are goners
In broad daylight, stickup kids, they run up on us
Fo'-fives and gauges, Macs in fact
Same niggaz'll catch a back to back, snatchin yo' cracks in black
There was a snitch on the block gettin niggaz knocked
So hold your stash until the coke price drop
I know this crackhead, who said she gotta smoke nice rock
And if it's good she'll bring ya customers in measuring pots, but yo
You gotta slide on a vacation
Inside information keeps large niggaz erasin and they wives basin
It drops deep as it does in my breath
I never sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of death
Beyond the walls of intelligence, life is defined
I think of crime when I'm in a New York state of mind

I never said he was nowhere near the top mate, but as a lyricist he's overrated imo.

I like the game, you can tell he's a big fan of music in his lyrics which I like. Where he falls down is his lyrical content, he has none, basically.

Give any great lyricist this beat and you're looking at one of the best hip-hop records of all time:
