Close encounters of the third kind. One of my favourite films. Dreyfuss is brilliant in it.

Yes; compared to present day movies, the effects aren't really all that special, to be honest. They're pretty shit, actually. But remember, that film was released in (I think) 1977.But, for me, that adds to the appeal. It's why I prefer the original Terminator film to the sequel(s). It's a more gritty film, T2 is dominated (overly so, in my opinion) by the SFX.
I just hope that Hollywood never consider remaking CEOTTK, with someone like Ryan Gosling in the Roy Neary role. Don't tinker with a masterpiece.
