They are back again! Asking fans to dig deep….. and like an addict they can’t help themselves but follow suit and throw in some more good money after bad….. One member even goes as far as saying it should be easy for 100 companies to each give £1,000 per year ‘’if they were made aware of everything being done by the club’’ – everyone is aware that the club is hemorrhaging funds on par with the Hacienda club in the 80’s. So who the fuck is going to give them money to further piss up the wall?

‘’If one thing can be said about the last 24 hrs, it’s that at least now awareness of the financial situation can’t be ignored by your average AGM ignoring supporter.
We desperately need to put a plan together to get rid of this millstone. Some of it will have to come from tightly run operations, some from donations, and deferment of loan stock will play a part.
I believe we should set an ambitious target of being debt free within 5 years and run a campaign around it.
How we can get to 850k:
Current Development Fund run rate = 60k per year = 300k
Commitment from operations profit = 50k per year = 250k
That leaves upwards of another 300k or 60k per year
Let’s call it £1000 a week. That’s only 500 of us @£2 / week.
It’s all doable. But we need to start now. We need to be ringfencing the money and paying it off as and when the cash flow allows. And start now. Every week that passes, the more we have to raise. The board and CEO need to try to get us through the next 18months but we can’t wait to see if we have gone bust before we start planning.
If we make more than £50k a year we’ll get there sooner, if more than 500 sign up, we’ll get there sooner. But we should start now
Now.’’

‘’It looks like this will be the way we need to go. But it will be the same people contributing once again, they’ll already have community shares, loan stock, standing orders etc. we need to get the message out so it’s not just the usual suspects dipping their hands in their pockets’’

‘’The club needs a proper, full-time, fundraiser/commercial manager.
This person should be tasked with building relationships and offerings aimed at raising money from new sources, not dipping the bucket back into the same well.
Put them on a very small basic (£12k p/a) and heavily incentivise them with commission (I'd suggest 50% of all money raised up to £200,000, then 20% after that).
The club's community work is very special, and we are well known and generally well respected.

Manchester is booming and there are plenty of companies who would contribute if they were made aware of everything that is being done by the club. Target 100 companies at £1,000 each and there is £50k to the club once commission is paid. This alone would raise £250k between now and 2023.
These companies then form the base for further sponsorship, advertising and other sales. I think you could expect another £100k from them collectively per season.
It's fucking crazy that this role hasn't been filled. We had three useless fundraisers under Walshy, none of them were any good but that doesn't mean you don't need to generate income.’’

‘’I agree that going back to the same people who have already made regular contributions is not really the way forward. How much more can this comparatively small group be expected to give? Especially in the light of gross misuse of funds over the years. The professional fundraiser needs to be revisited (note Professional).’’

I can see the parraells of the rags and rag light, debt debt and more debt. Won’t be long till the shit houses who abandoned their club because they weren’t good anymore will be back at the mothership in Stretford paying down their debt. Nick nack paddywack and all that.
