To be honest, I think after reading that it's fair to say MES has more empathy with the FCUM "project" than myself. Me, I'm more in the Second Skin/Blue Mist/Damocles camp and think your moralistic posturing about the community and being against modern football is just a front for you to re-enact the behaviour of the Red Army back in the 1970's. As has been stated, you could've thrown your support behind any number of long-established local non-league clubs instead of creating a new one with a ready made support base which gave them infinitely more spending power than genuine community clubs that were formed over 100 years ago. I'm not saying that everyone who follows FCUM is an egotistical prick but the c**ts that suckered you in are and a significant proportion of your fanbase is only arsed about which towns are ripe for smashing up when you visit.
Thanks, yes, I know I am in a minority (probably of 1) that has no issue with FCUM as a club.
The MEN always bangs on they were formed as a result of the Glazer takeover, but it was formed on the back of a number of issues within OT over a few years and the game as a whole.
As a member of the National Council of the FSF, as well as a Blue, I was also dissatisfied with how the game was going (and especially when Shinawatra started putting up ''Happy Birthday'' messages to the King of Thailand on the scoreboard!) and was attending meetings with a few of the founder members of FCUM years before they set it up and was firm friends with them. I was saddened for them when the Ten Acre Lane site fell through (for reasons still not publicly stated and City remaining the main cause for rumours as to the cancellation.) It was, therefore, very difficult for me to throw my weight behind the campaign against the stadium in Moston for that reason, but felt I had to as I was so against the development of green land when there were (I felt) brown sites available and should have been at least discussed by the council, but 2 of the 3 local councilors weren't interested. The other, to his credit, resigned as a result of this issue and became an independent.
Oh, and Zutroy - I have never bad mouthed FCUM once (show me evidence if you can).
I merely highlight examples of your fellow co-owners misbehaving themselves. Like the Chorley video (which I didn't post). Again, I await your comment on fellow co-owners on that particular little episode.
And to the other comment, I wasn't born or bred in Merseyside (?) and had lived in Manchester from 1983 (28 years) including the last 19 years living in Moston, before emigrating in 2011 - which at the time made me qualified to comment about what goes on in the area I lived in at the time.
