Utd to pay £60k Fergie Fines

MANCHESTER UNITED will pay £60,000 in fines for Alex Ferguson as he carries on his ban of speaking to the BBC.
New Premier League rules say all bosses must talk to the Beeb after games or will be fined, with the scale of punishments increasing for repeat offenders.

The first fine is £1,000 but this rises each time with the cost hitting around £60,000 for the full season.

Fergie has not spoken to the BBC since a 2004 documentary about his son Jason's work as an agent.

Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer said: "I don't think he will speak to us again.

"Alex is a man of his word and a man of principle."

Personally I dont think it should be allowed.

Its not a bad thing to show loyalty to your family.

true, but what i'd like him to clarify is why, in the 6 years since the panorama programme was shown, haven't he and/or his son sued the bbc for libel.

and also why united stopped all dealings with his son almost immediately after the programme was shown.

i've asked this question many times
the most often answer is that its too expensive to sue

however it doesn't really hold water as he's a millionaire and if he's right he would win and get his costs back

Just wish the BBC would have the balls to say right, you refuse to give interviews to us, we wont show any of your matches or hightlights until you start. What the fuck is a 60k fine to any premier league team

How funny would it be, like the newspaper that got banned from Southampton and only refer to them as South Coast team, so have "Fulham 2, That team from outside Manchester 2"
