Fernandinho back in training

I think for all the good Fernandinho has been this season. His last few games were not that great in my opinion he seemed sloppy on the ball at times getting caught on the ball in the Leicester game nearly costing us a goal and his passing was not that great. Maybe it was the so many games he has played so far. Hopefully we see the best in Fernandhino when he is back in the team. Also think Fernando has done well with Delph and we look solid in midfield. Yaya is the biggest question mark. Cant play in the 2 in a central midfield push him up behind Kun then we might see the best of him but then we loose 1 of Silva , Sterling or KDB to keep him in the side while all have offered more this year compared to Yaya in my view.

Still unsure if Delph is slightly gormless, or if he just has a dry sense of humour. I think the latter, but you can never quite tell with Yorkshiremen.

We should ask some Villa fans. They seem to know there stuff in this regard.

From the bits i've seen of him on CityTV i'm very confident it's the later. I love the guy,

As for best partnerships. Nobody has put Fernando in theirs, It's no coincidence our best defensive displays this season have tended to included Fernando. His positional play and cover of the huge gaps left at the back when Yaya sits down on the halfway line or Otamendi decides to chase the ball all the way to the right wing is very very good. He's not needed for every game but for most away games and some of the bigger home games he should be in the team imo.

Fernandinho and Delph as a two would be interesting but there's a danger of them being too alike. It could work great with the energy they'd give the team but they'd have to develop an almost telepathic understanding so that they both aren't doing the same thing.

Yaya controls games like nobody else but we seem to be better suited as more of a fast paced countering side rather than the slow methodical build up play we see with Yaya centrally. Which is why i'd rather see Dinho and Delph who's energy and tenacity would enable us to win the ball high up the pitch and counter more effectively.

I think that's one of the reasons why we're struggling this year, we seem caught between having a forward line that's built for the counter but still trying to play possession football. With the team we've got i think this season we should be playing very similar to Real Madrid when they won the champions league under Ancelotti and wait for Pep to come in the summer.

He can look as vapid as he likes on the internet providing he brings his game like he did last Saturday :)
