Fernandinho is hugely underrated

Heurelho Gomes a 7...

Fern's the sort of player who tends to go unnoticed unless you watch him every week - same as Gareth Barry - so it's no surprise that a lazy article knocked together in less than a day undervalues his role in our side.

nothing major. what matters is how he plays for us at the end of the day and he tends to do that very well so it's no fuss.

No disrespect to Barry and his fantastically cerebral game. But you don't need to watch Dihno more than once to know you are watching a supremely talented CM. Fernandihno pops off the screen like few central mids do without dribbling.

Different styles, but he pops off the screen like Micheal Essien used to for Chelsea. Flat out dominant.

Dude is a bloody gazelle with a pit bull mentality.

Not just the article. If he was at united he would be the bloody second coming. Ramires is rated higher in general, why? Why is he not an integral part of brazils midfield? He is so overlooked, i honestly think he is the complete midfielder. Nothing he cannot do. Fast, strong, great passer, skillful, good dribbler, technically great, great finisher, great stamjna and determination, good defender, good in the air!

Amazes me how highly rated Coutinho is in general. He only plays well 3 or 4 games a season.

And Oscar an 8? He's as bang average as it gets!

He's brilliant love watching him play. When he's on form I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have in the middle than him.

POTY so far. The end.

Oh, and plays with a smile on his face, too. LOVE HIM!

Was at the Palace game the other week and my brothers foster child turns to me and says "Who's your favorite player?" I looked around the field and tried to think of a player I liked more than him, but couldn't find one. The obvious answer is Aguero, but he doesn't do any of the dirty work that is needed to make this team so attack minded.

I say, "Fernandinho." He is dumbfounded, but he is 12.
I see similarities in his response in other, older people, like journalists and other teams' fans. Watch him, week after week, and you realize why he was worth £30M a few years ago, while others scratched their head.

One of the most annoying parts of football in my opinion, people instantly go for the goal scorers or the hyped up player of the moment. Don't get me wrong Aguero is our best player can change the game in a heartbeat probably is my favourite player as well because I was a striker but I can understand peoples opinions when they say Fernandinho or Zabaleta or possibly Kompany falls under this. Players that do the hard yards or game-saving challenges or motivate the team around them. Its partly down to social media and numb-nut journalists who can't recognise different aspects of the game, they see stats columns or goals or assists and think thats the be all.

spot on.

I always know someones ignorance about football when they say Fern isn't all that for big money. It's one of those throw away remarks like 'empty seats' 'fern was a waste of money' etc. I rate him as one of the best players this season and love watching him. He glides around the pitch and covers so much ground. He breaks up so play and his positional sense is excellent. Also is a goal threat which adds an extra string to his bow and he's also a total athlete and has a good few years left in him yet.

He goes under the radar i think because of the other players we have, but for people who actually watch us and pay attention he is now one of our most important players.

He is one of most important players, does his own job and half of Yaya's. We miss him a lot when he's out and I'd put him in the same bracket as Hart, Kompany and Agüero in terms of impact on the team.

You can throw Aguero in the underrated mix too.... We could go on and win the league this season with him as the leagues top scorer but he won't make a team of the season or be in the running for any player of the season awards.

Agree with all of the above. He's the best box to box player I can remember seeing, he's got the lot

"Like Fernando, it took him a while to hit his stride in a City shirt"

Lol, he was great player in his first season at City and earned Brazilian World Cup team call that year.

Daily Mail are bloody idiots
