Fernandinho

I think we'd only sell Barry if he demanded at the very least the same wages he's currently on.

From all indications, and it seems like he's one of the few "team first" type of players around these days, I know it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to take a pay cut to stay in the squad, rather than go to Fulham or something just to play every week.

I'd be surprised if the final price is actually 23 million. Remember when the papers reported City paying 22 million for Garcia?

This badger isn't worth more than £10 million

Woo hoo this is THE signing we have been crying out for

this is the same guy who said he was definitely playing in manchester in january. maybe this links to the fact the deal was agreed back in january but certain things werent ironed out in time

I definately don't think we will be selling Barry.

For me, what Fernandinho will bring is competition for Yaya, something he really needs as we cannot rely on him for every game we play, and as we have seen in the CL he has great box to box qualities so it's a little bit like for like.

If anything he could be versatile for us, he could play next to Yaya, or next to Barry with Yaya going up top.

We could even play a midfield three of Fernandinho - Yaya - Barry, so I definatley believe he could be a fantastic addition for us.

The big question though is what happens to Garcia and Rodders? Rodders is for the future, but Garcia I don't know.

Maybe he could be a center back option?

Or maybe we could admit he was a huge mistake and ship him out at a huge loss.

Hopefully a Spanish or maybe Italian club,he's destined for midtable obscurity whichever.

It actually annoys me that we even considered him good enough, never mind shelling out 16m??

I have much higher hopes for Fernandinho.

Plenty of Spanish, Portuguese, Italian French and german clubs would love to have him in their side. He may not be cut out for a championship chasing team but he is still a very good midfielder, no matter what a lot of spoilt city fans say.

We could sell Garcia but only at an embarrassing loss if it was to an Iberian team (like, a £5million transfer fee). Most Spanish and Portuguese sides are in debt and the ones who could pay a decent transfer fee wouldn't want him. There's also his wages to consider, if he's on say £60,000/week that would be too much for most La Liga teams. Wonder if anyone in Italy would want him, there are still a few teams who can pay a decent fee like Inter... and he would probably suit Serie A more than here.

I don't even think Inter has the money to pay a decent fee these days. If we were to offload him, our best chance to get value would be in a some sort of player + cash swap deal. But to be honest, I'd be fine with him staying with the team. He's not nearly as terrible as people here make him out to be. Not a first XI starter, but a fine bench player that adds an aerial threat when brought on. Unless there is a midfielder in the youth team that can take his place, I'd keep him on.

Nothing to do with spoilt mate, through huge investment/luck,its the table we now sit at.

Garcia isnt good enough and we dont have to accept such anymore.

I suggest you go support Everton if you want eternal mediocracy and very limited expectation.

Haven't been able to follow this until today, going through 34 pages right now. Is this a done deal?

From the limited time I've seen him, Fernandinho seems like he's exactly what we need. Too bad he's not a few years younger.

don't know much about him but would add some pace and goals to our midfield - both of which we are lacking at the minute

hopefully it would see Garcia off as well

Not a done deal, just speculation we are in advanced talks that began last year.

He is entering/in his prime and, being the athlete he is,he will be top class for another 3 or 4 years.

Migt be better off sending him on loan to a decent Premiership side. Arsenal, Spurs or Liverpool for example. A good season might raise his value and maybe we'd actually want him back at the end.

Tancredi Palmeri is reporting that it's practically done. He's a fairly reliable source.

Who would he replace in their teams?

Fulham,West Brom or Stoke are more his level.
