Spanish TV news (TVE which is equivalent of BBC1) reported it as a done deal which will be rubber stamped tomorrow about 45 minutes ago. The price they gave was "somewhere over 50 million euros". Don't shoot the messenger just relaying what I just saw on TV. It is also all over Marca (which I know is not a reliable source), but they do get things right more often than not and their journalists are all in bed with the top Spanish agents. Depressing, but he is not bigger than LFC and we have recovered from much worse things as a club than this. Thanks for the memories mate, break a leg as they say!

That was the post on rawk mate, he might have been wumming and they have deleted it, i just copied and pasted pal.

yeah i know mate, no worries.

Greedy lol If we were to sign Torres i would then have to agree with those who say we sign players for the sake of it

Seriously? I honesty think Carlitos is probably going to go in the summer. Sure would be nice to have Torres there to slot in without having to give him time to gel as he will already have played half a season with us. Torres and Dzeko. Sounds tasty to me. No to repeat myself.

If Tevez is going to leave then yes we would need to sign someone, but we dont know if he is. If City do go for Torres then i think that would prove he is, but i dont know if there's any proof we're in for him. If Carlos is to leave then i think we may line someone up and sign them in the summer, don't think we coul do that with Torres

EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea make sensational £60m Torres bid
Published 23:59 27/01/11 By Oliver Holt - EXCLUSIVE

Chelsea are attempting to stage a massive transfer coup with a dramatic £60million bid for Liverpool star Fernando Torres, it emerged last night.

It would shatter the British transfer record and send shockwaves through the Premier League.

Liverpool’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group, last night confirmed they had received an offer for the Spain striker.

Chelsea were strongly linked with Torres in the summer but Liverpool refused to consider selling the 26-year-old.

But if the Reds decide to do a deal this time, the cash would be made available to new boss Kenny Dalglish to rebuild the struggling side, said sources at Anfield. Liverpool have been linked with Ajax forward Luis Suarez and Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam, who would cost a total of £30m.

The sale of Torres, who met Dalglish to discuss his future, would finance those purchases and leave plenty more to spend.

After a dreadful start to the season, Torres has shown signs of returning to his best form in the last fortnight.

Dalglish’s appointment as caretaker boss until the end of the season and the impact he has made has brought a new sense of optimism to the club.

The main stumbling block to the sale of Torres is FSG’s concerns about the reaction it would provoke from Liverpool supporters.

The bid is proof of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s continued commitment to the club after rumours his interest was waning.

A Liverpool spokesman said last night: “Chelsea made a bid for Torres but it has been turned down.”

Don't mean to sound nasty but the lad is clearly out of his depth in the premier league the english games seems to fast for him maybe France or Germany for him would be a better fit

good for Liverpool to turn it down, but they'd have been a lot better with the 40 million quid. They have to buy a lot of players to rebuild.
