I keep posting this everywhere I suspect I may get an answer but I will try once more in this thread :

What happens to Spurs when Soldado gets injured ??

Glib answer somebody else takes the penalties, Seriously I think they will struggle for goals in a big
way, sill to score from open play and if he did get injured they wouldn't replace Bales goals with Lamela

I have no problems with both Ferran Soriano & Txiki Begiristain and they will change us for the better when given time.

Re: Ferran Soriano & Txiki Begiristain

Sacked a manager no one wanted sacking, made some decent signings. That's it. Nothing yet the say they're two football Einsteins.

I agree.

They have done some very good business but I believe they have now become very unbalanced. If they play 5 in midfield they still have 6 quality midfielders on the bench yet if they lose Soldado step forward Defoe / Adebayor.

Erickson, good player as he is, was one step too far and they should have gone for an orthadox striker I believe.

Anyway , back on thread Txiki is the key footballing man now at City.
Everybody else , including the manager , report to him and he is proven at the very highest level.
I read Ferran's book recently and be in no doubt about it Txiki was the top man at Barca when it came down to player / manager recruitment.

We are in good hands however I would like to see the 2 amigos make a big effort in blending their Barca blueprint in to a sustainable English hybrid as I am sure they will , given the long term visionaries from Abu Dhabi and their undoubted belief in keeping City firmly connected to its roots.

By the way , Viera is being honed and polished for the future.....

On paper, accounts and spreadsheets great - on grass? - Time will tell.

Pretty much it. Like the hugely premature 'Discuss Pellegrini' thread, we're not truly going to see the impact of Ferran and Txiki for at least another season, and their general influence will be felt on a far longer timescale than your average football fan is accustomed. Txiki has had one summer window, and he knows you can't replace 90% of the squad all at once even if he thinks that's what is needed.

However in the short term - Arguably the best business of the transfer window, at worst tied with Spurs (On paper at least) - All done early for good enough fees and wages. Shifted out lots of deadwood. Already had the benefit of goals from one of our early signings translated directly into points, you can't ask for much more than that.

I think we've been seeing Ferran's handiwork for about a full year now.
