Just have to point some things out Mancini had a few job offers in Italy which he turned down. He is waiting for his dream job in London hint. If Mancini came second and FA cup runners up with his hands tied imagine what he could do otherwise. This is why he's been coveted. If someone doesn't deliver a good ending he is no. one candidate.
I genuinely laughed.

Cloud cuckoo land.

Morning Dave...You really don't/didn't like Mancini did you?
I understand why you felt it was time for a change but to have utter contempt for the guy who brought us what we all dreamed of..I just don't get it pal.Enlighten me..

Thank god those thickos included the sheikh, Khaldoon, soriano and begiristain.

If he's world class why has he been acrimoniously sacked for the same reasons from his only two 'world class' jobs?

And why was he not considered for the "world class jobs" going this summer at Chelsea, united, real and Barca?

The reason he hasn't, fella, is that he patently and obviously isn't considered world class by the people in the European game that matter.

If he can blag it I'd say he would suit the Italian national job quite well because he doesn't have to build relationships and work with people every day. He ca basically breeze in, put his scarf on and pick the team once a month. I wouldn't fancy his chances of getting through a World Cup on foreign soil without a few tantrums and tears though.
Maybe he fancies taking a bit of time out of the game
Bit like when your mate Mourinho was sacked from Chelsea
Didn't be take 8 or 9 months off?
Not to mention Peps sabbatical. Anyway hasn't.his father been ill for sometime. Maybe he's just cherishing some quality time with papa.
Bingo.

It was widely reported weeks ago that the Italian national manager will stand down at the World Cup and that Mancini will be interested

Anyone who rubbishes Mancini loses all credibility.

It may have been the right time for a change, but he clearly has a lot of positive attributes.

We can't quite get our heads out of the past.

It seems to me that those who criticise and campaigned for Mancini's dismissal assume that any criticism of Pellegrini is down to loyalty to the old manager, but 99% of City fans and first and foremost City fans and understand that there is no use in holding on to something that has gone. If anything it's the Mancini outers who are wearing blinkers at the moment, and refusing to acknowledge any weaknesses or initial difficulties with the new regime

I agree with that.

I was very much in getting behind Hughes and defending the indefensible at times. After he'd gone though and having seen Mancio's teams develop you know it was the right time for Hughes to go.

I try and be more balanced these days, objective but always wearing my City hat of course.

I think the jury is out with Pelligrini so I don't understand how some seem to feel he has already eclipsed Mancini . As somebody else pointed out his record against baconface was impeccable. He won us our first league and FA Cup since 1968/1969. He qualified us for Champions League 3 years in a row and only narrowly missed out in his first half season to 'spuds'. He put 3 trophies in our cabinet and nearly a fourth. He was only with us 3 and a half seasons. His purchases made Hughe look a right plonker - not that that is any kind of benchmark.

OK, it might have been time for a change but why so much antagonism for the guy from some ?

Maybe more of a posters 'power struggle' and a desire by one group or clique to win an argument and impose themselves over others with their views ? Maybe just those who have adopted a view and don't want to admit they were wrong ? Either way, the argument is a weak one that doesn't withstand any scrutiny.

Mancini masterminded the 'sick swan' for goodness sakes. I bet there weren't any doubters on here that day. Short memories some people.

There was a time not so long ago that I'd have joined in this thread but I now see its all so pointless. It's also getting completely off the topic as well as descending into petty and unnecessary personal insults.

So either stick to the topic of the thread or I'll lock it.

just before you lock it PB can I just say that that Billy wasn't alone when he took his sabbatical to recover from his serial disappointments, Dave disappeared on a long solitary fishing trip too. I reckon if Manuel blows it they'll be rebooking their gites soon.

when hughes was sacked, mancini came and he improved our team in 1-2 weeks. he only bought johnson and lost robinho. we had problems in deffence and he fixed it, we started winning and were better team. if mancini had 100 millions like pellegrini, we would have qualified for champions league and fucked spurs :) but it doesn't matter now. problem is that, i don't see improvent in our team. last year we had the best midfield and deffence. now we have nothing. we weren't dominating in midfield and i can't remember attack through the middle today and this happens when we had yaya on the pitch. imagine situation whe yaya will be injured or gone for national team in january. what will happen :D
so pellegrini make a lot of mistakes and any kind of improvement is hard to see. he had 90 days to improve our attack, make transfers and start a new season. but he decided to change everything and no to continue building started by mancini :). that's not good for me and that's why i don't like him.
yes mancini's team had problems during away games but we were dominating, we were attacking and the only thing opposition could do was to deffend. today they had better moments than us, we weren't dominating and didn't have any moment. connection was lost between midfield and attackers and that happened for the first time in 2-3 years. yeas that happened maybe against bayern or at bernabeu, but i think it's a big difference between stoke and bayern/real :)
