Going for Erling. He tucked the penalty away nicely, and his goal on the move was a typical example of many of the goals he was scoring with those telescopic legs in his first season. Nice to see him getting back on track.

Good to see people defending Nunes, though. Some people on this forum have been posting that he's same level as Phillips. That is such bollocks. He's not great, maybe even not the level you'd expect for MCFC, but he's a decent skilled midfielder. (Phillips? Even West Ham didn't want him. One of the three disaster buys to put on a level with Mangala and Bony).

Missed his last penalty in the CL and that keeper acting like a knob, kept him waiting for ages. Slotted it away quite easily

The issue with Nunez is inconsistency. He is frustrating. He was good last night.

Fair enough. But he's got to get the minutes to play himself into the side, hasn't he? Like any player. He's levels above Phillips, I hope we can agree on that.
A much better player than Phillips. Nunez seems better coming from a deeper position. The problem is he is not great defensively so can’t really do the holding role.

Nunes played well for sure, some great runs with the ball and quick and direct. Still reeling from the last 20 minutes of that game. And don't even get me started on the absolute chaos trying to get out of the car park after. Feck the arena and feck Sleep Token. Not a good night. Keep the faith.

Can I vote for the little lad who pressed the buzzer before the light show?

Nathan Benjamin Aké.

Brought a much needed calmness and solidity to our defence last night. We looked a different team defensively with him there. Both Akanji and Gvardiol didn’t put a foot wrong while Aké was on the pitch.

Aké went off at 3-0 on 69mins and we fucking crumbled defensively without him.
