Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Just got back, as soon as they scored the heads went down and defensively we are so brittle currently. We desperately need Dias back, Sunday is not going to be enjoyable.

Well that was utter fucking shite wasn't it. Feyenoord we pretty poor but it took a dodgy penalty and a deflection to get us ahead. Then we managed a well worked goal and proceeded to collapse like a house of cards. And it was bloody cold during the second half.
I await some happy-clappie who watched from his cosy armchair telling me it was OK.

Lets be honest when Pep made those substitutions on the 70th minute when we were 3 up, i wouldnt think there was a City fan who didnt think it was a good idea to give a couple of academy lads a few minutes and rest a few for Sunday
No.
Not the way the teams been..
Leave as is and see the game out.
Needed for team spirit and winning mentality..

He never makes subs when we are losing so don't do it now .

Bernado has been coasting since the start of last season. Gone stale.

He works and runs enough but it's not a marathon race. He's been offering almost nothing for a while.

Probably needs a fresh start elsewhere.
He keeps losing the ball.
So does Gundo.
When the legs are gone you find you don’t have the time you used to have. Getting caught in possession, diddering about, not making a decision.
Poor decision making has us repeatedly cheaply losing possession. One ball through usually opens up and panics our defence.
Akanji and Gvardiol, to my mind, are not natural defenders. Gvardiol is decent going forward but that’s it.
I would regard Ake as the most naturally defensively minded player we have available and he doesn’t seem to be 100% fit.

That was hard to watch.

Defensive errors aside, what concerned me most was seeing our players’ heads drop after we conceded the second goal. It was like they were resigned to throwing it away again..

I know we have enormous injury concerns but the form of a large numbers of our players (Gvardiol, Foden, Bernardo in particular) is deeply worrying.

We can make all the excuses in the world if we want too but it’s unacceptable. Top level players who are paid very very well just simply coasting though games. Not good enough

We miss Dias so terribly, we’ve conceded 15 goals since he got injured. He’s the only out and out defender we have. He’s also really committed and a leader, we are sorely lacking leadership at the moment.

We need to rest Lewis, Gvardiol if we can. Walker is done and needs to go as soon as possible.

Our back four needs to be Akanji, Stones, Diaa and Ake as soon as they’re all fit. We need defenders.

Our midfield is a shambles Gundogan should be closing out matches instead we’re asking him to run our midfield. Silva offers very little in midfield or wide. Foden is off form. Nunes is a perfect microcosm of our issues right now, great when we’re playing well, offers nothing defensively and seems to lack real conviction. No idea if we’re ever going to see KDB really shine for us again. We’ve bought poorly in midfield and need to get it right in January or who knows how bad it will get.

We desperately need to dig out some results until January so our season doesn’t unravel completely.

Tempted to say that was rock bottom but that probably arrives on Sunday when Liverpool ping 7 or 8 past us. Catastrophic subs by the manager, & leaving a team out there with zero leaders whilst Dias & Walker sat there as it all collapsed is unfathomable

Pep cannot or will not change the system unfortunately

I think he needs to change it, at least at certain times in games, but do understand why he’d choose not to and let’s be honest, he’s far more equipped to make that decision than any of us.
