Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Anyone else even slightly enjoying this spell? We’ve been brilliant for 6 or 7 seasons and we are struggling. Feels real. Let’s see what we’re made of, players and fans.
Rather us be somewhat competent imo

But I still love this team

It's brought back some memories.

I wouldn't say enjoying it, more like old feelings of anxiety when we were proper shite.

I get that.
Still at 3-0 with 15 minutes left on the clock even Pep cannot have seen that capitulation.
It’s a mistake by him only in hindsight, but to suggest it’s all on him is quite ridiculous.
It's on him because the subs were woeful and capitulated control to them. He is afterall the coach and presumably knows why he started with the players he did, as opposed to the ones he brought on.

Where is the captain? I don’t see kev after they scored the first or the second getting the player together or doing anything a captain or a leader of a team does. We have zero leadership in the squad

I haven't seen a City team collapse so spectacularly since the 3-3 at home to Bournemouth when we were 3-0 up at halftime. Congas on the Kippax, party time then we fell to pieces.
Eddie Large’s half time team talk. The stuff of legend….

They just had to play it safe, keep the ball and see out the game. Then Gvardiol criminally plays an absolute hospital ball and it's 3-1. You could visibly see the panic and loss of belief grip them from the minute the ball hit our net. All old hand blues just knew what was coming from there.
The hospital pass from Gvardiol for their first is similar shit to the first and second against Spurs, but particularly their first. Sometimes you just have to simply deal with a ball, and he seems to want to keep possession. His job is fucking defend. Inexplicable that he’s making these mistakes. You look at that one today for their first, just smash it towards their goal with your right foot instead of playing a nonsense ball towards Eddie. Mental.

I said in the spurs post match thread. There has to be something going on behind the scenes. I understand we have a lot of players injured, but fuck me our form has fell off mount everest. God help us on Sunday when we play the scouser.

They’re that confident their going with just the one player?

Me too. Luther fucking Blissett with a 97th minute penalty I think. I then had to go through all the stress of getting a ticket for Bradford away and anguish until Morley's late equaliser.
I was in the Bradford end. Borrowed a couple of their memberships. Trevor to the rescue.

lol my son and I were watching the replay. He's a keeper in college here in US. Said exactly that. If you're going to come out that far, its all or nothing. The ball and if not that, the man. Take the red. Ederson would have been better off punching the ball away. He led with his head and probably closed his eyes doing it because he wasn't even close.

Came for it, then stopped then went for it again…the hesitation meant he was never getting there.

No issue with the subs saving legs in an injury ravaged squad.
Strap yourself in it is going to get worse before it gets better unfortunately.

Not really enjoying it, no. Although, when we were under pressure to win big matches like v united when Kompany scored that header and again when he scored that screamer v Leicester. I was ill for days after with tension migraines because of the stress of the matches, believe it or not. Now, we’re getting beat, or like tonight, this mess, more annoyed and frustrated but that’s it.

We’ve seen us do it in the league umpteen times, concede a shit goal when cruising, but we’ve been way better than other teams and capable of seeing games out whereas tonight we couldn’t afford to give them a sniff. I hate to say I predicted it, but I turned to the guys round me and said we can’t afford to give them a goal tonight, then we did and the rest is history.
You could feel the disaster vibes when they got the first, they believed, we shat the bed and rolled in it

No absolutely no I want to win every thing sod the nostalgic bullshit we were shit and that’s a stain on our history not something to be proud of or repeated

Emerson had a poor game as well. The second goal and running out unnecessarily for the third. He should have taken him out, got sent off and missed a game.
