Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Gvardiol has given away 4 goals in 2 games; he has to be dropped, make him realise what an unacceptable fuck up that is. Probably applies to a few others as well, but you can't make an example of everyone, otherwise it will get even worse.
Agreed.

I don’t get to many games, so tonight was my first of the season and for 70 odd minutes it was just like the few games I went to last season. Not a top class opposition, but not a full strength City and most of the players acquitted themselves well.

Gundo played some great balls, Phil looked pretty sharp. Certainly nothing to be worried about with a players still to come back.

For me the subs changed everything. Too many at once and too early. Had Pep not made three massive changes I feel there is little doubt the game would have been won. I’d have preferred him to let one change bed in.

It reminded me of a game against Leicester a few years ago (Boxing Day), he made a load of changes, took off experience and we nearly blew a 4-0 lead.

We should have won tonight, but didn’t. The team and performance are far better than they are being painted out to be.

The hospital pass from Gvardiol for their first is similar shit to the first and second against Spurs, but particularly their first. Sometimes you just have to simply deal with a ball, and he seems to want to keep possession. His job is fucking defend. Inexplicable that he’s making these mistakes. You look at that one today for their first, just smash it towards their goal with your right foot instead of playing a nonsense ball towards Eddie. Mental.
This so called hospital pass is getting like the JFK magic bullet. It's only a hospital pass because it's to McAtee. To Gundogan, Silva or Rodri, it's a normal pass.
Perhaps he should have known that, but after 75 mins, difficult to change.

I haven't seen a City team collapse so spectacularly since the 3-3 at home to Bournemouth when we were 3-0 up at halftime. Congas on the Kippax, party time then we fell to pieces.
The Leicester v Palace result popping up on the scoreboard right at the end gave us another shot.
But that Bournemouth match was a nightmare.
Boiling hot day too if I remember. I was stood in the corner between the Kippax and the Platt Lane end.
Weird old day.

I don’t disagree about him thinking that, but he’s paid to manage the team and he didn’t do that tonight.

When their first went in, the team needed some reassurance, a few instructions or a bollocking. Stand up and offer something. Sitting there with his head in his hands can’t happen.
I think his next word to Josko should have been to encourage him to clear the ball if he's in doubt or being pressed . That would have sorted it but they are not taught to clear their lines are they? Although I think I saw Ake clear his lines inside our box in the first half. So at least he isn't afraid to get rid of it once in while.
We all know that with Pep you dare not lose the ball and it's instilled in them from the day they sign for us. But there are exceptions quite clearly and there's nothing wrong with belting the ball upfield or into touch when the situation demands it.
