Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

I’ve always said that after the 10 years we’ve had, I wouldn’t care if we didn’t win owt else ..

I was wrong, this slump is killing me, last night, I couldn’t sleep at all.. I’m a FOC and need my sleep an all ..

Come on City, buck the fuck up will ya….!!!!
Yep I feel exactly the same - I wish we would stop the "What an amazing 8 years we've had and the players deserve to be given an easier ride" theme. Pep's strength has always been you don't run or work, you don't play but one thing Ive seen in this run is players jogging back after making a mistake - not ideal, he needs to get tough again and maybe he is behind doors and some have not responded.

Sport is forever moving and you only need to look at what happened to other teams that dominated for a while and then sat back and looked to the past. I don't expect us to win all the time but you have to evolve - we did it when David, Vinny, Yaya and Ferna came to the end but suddenly we seem to have taken an eye off the future a bit especially with recruitment.

Yeah also a FOC, I had a shit restless night. 3-0 win and I sleep like a baby. City eh.

Gundo signing was just shortsighted…….
I bet you weren't saying that the day he signed.

Last night was bizarre, even the Spurs result was, in fact I think I'm correct in saying that in EVERY ONE of the last 6 matches we've been the better team, most possession, most passes, most shots and so on. Statistically you wouldn't normally lose those matches, those odd half chances that the opposition get from an error or a hopeful ball don't result in a goal most of the time, but just lately they have and as such I think we've been desperately unlucky at times.

But I'll keep saying it, this is what happens when the core is ripped out of the side. It's not just the missing players, the ones coming in dont get a break, and in circumstances like this end up with a lot of pressure to deal with and make mistakes they wouldn't normally make as a result.

Sorry but not a single manager in the world would think it's foolish and naive to bring on a kid at that stage. Managers have been doing that for decades in the CL to give them experience when in a comfortable lead. If you cant do that at 3-0 up when can you do it?

At least 2 of the goals were Gvardiol mistakes, the pass to McAtee with the players around him in the central defensive position was horrendous. For some reason we're panicking once the ball is in our half and we're under a bit of pressure and in the last couple of matches he seems to be the worst.

I think when we get the fully fit players back we'll be fine, Stones doesn't panic, Diaz doesn't panic, and some of the goals we've conceded have been half chances that normally wouldn't happen. I would put all three of their goals last night in that bracket but as we know more than most, when things are not going for you it's tough.
Having Bernardo as captain doesnt help an all

100% agree.

For the first time in a decade I hate football, can't even watch the highlights or any reports on the game without feeling nauseous.

It's funny old game.

One positive of this slump, it will fire up everyone and take away any sort of complacency and appreciation of winning football matches.

Not Bournemouth, I think. I agree with Pep on that one. It's the only one. For my money, we were genuinely outplayed. In every other match, we've had clear periods of dominance, sometimes fully the first forty-five minutes, sometimes more, with plenty of chances. Even against Spurs, we were knocking it around, overlapping, had them very much on the back foot, it was only a question of when we were going to score, until their first goal came out of nothing. Then, it has to be said, we started to fall apart as a team. Last night was abject, though — we just chucked it away. I'm not easily going to get over that one.
It is very, very strange. That is why Pep himself is pretty perplexed.
