Feyenoord (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Decided to jump back in time, to a thread from December of 2020 after a match against West Ham. We were 12 points back of Liverpool that year sitting mid table. Interesting quotes from this thread, feel free to have a gander and maybe it will put something’s in to perspective. Keep in mind we won the title that year.

There are lots of comments about the substitutions and a Gvardiol brain fart costing us the game last night, but in my opinion Ederson cost us that game. Shocking goalkeeping, especially being beaten at his near post for their 2nd goal, and lord knows what he was thinking to come steaming out for the 3rd. He is good with his feet but as an actual shot stopper he is nearly as bad a Claudio Bravo. He does not inspire any confidence in that back line at all.
I think he rushed out for the first as well. I think he has had a good season until yesterday in mitigation.

Right now? The way we have been playing this year? Haha give it a rest it wasn't even an insult, managers say stuff for their own benefit. Not a harsh comment.
so you don't know then. at least be man enough to answer who you believe to be the best team in the world.. It's not rocket science.
I believe we are the best team in the world...we just happen to be on a poor run of form.

We have nothing to lose, we’re all expecting to get beat, maybe even hammered. But what is shite is Blues on here bigging those bastards up, they get enough of that from the sycophantic media. Fuck them, we turn up on Sunday as underdogs, but let’s just have a go, they’re not all that. They’ll never get any respect from me, they’ll boo our every touch, attack our fans, maybe attack the team coach again. And yet there’s still Blues on here who wax lyrical about them.

Just realised I’ve posted this in the wrong thread, will move it.

Still not the worst we've been under Pep. This current run is worse mathematically but at the start of 20/21 we were playing with our "strongest side" and weren't getting results. That's the only time I genuinely thought it was over for Pep, that we'd run out of ideas after three years and that we needed new blood in the dugout.

The team that started the 2-0 loss at Spurs (13th after nine games) was: Ederson, Walker Dias Laporte Cancelo, Rodri De Bruyne Bernardo, Mahrez Torres Jesus. The team that started the 1-1 draw against West Brom (9th after 13 games) was: Ederson, Cancelo Dias Ake Mendy, Rodri De Bruyne Gundogan, Sterling Jesus Foden.

And then it just turned on a knife-edge.

Hopefully a DM signing, plus all the lads coming back from injury and fitness issues, is that change we need in January. I don't see this season ending in a title win like 20/21 did, just because in 20/21 the rest of the league weren't on it and Liverpool look imperious, but top four and a run at the CL and FA Cup is more than enough after 2020-2024.
