Thinking about the FFPR, a key difference between leagues is the way and amount of TV money allocated to each club.

Last season Barcelona and Real Madrid raked in £106m from TV money in La Liga, whilst Manchester United and Chelsea only gained half of that, £53m.

Will the top clubs in England pressurise the host broadcaster Sky into putting their hands in their pockets further so they can compete, or will English clubs force through individual TV deals at least in foreign markets? Or will the Liga BBVA finally wrestle control back from the elite duo and distribute the money more equally.

It's an interesting point, especially when the Sheikh can point to Spain and say "hang on, we could be doubling our income here".

Getting the TV rights for you own games was the reason the Glaziers bought the rags. If they could get the rights to screen their own games on their own channel they would be untouchable.

That is why it is doomed to failure, if eg Chelsea couldn't meet the regs or ourselves we would just go to court and have the whole thing disbanded, add into that different tax rates across Europe, the whole thing is a nonsense.

I have said previously that the idea of a central TV contract for all leagues is definitely part of the goals of UEFA as part of FFPR 2 when they happen.

How else can ANY set of financial controls ever be fair?

so ultimately UEFA want to control the money, who it's given to and siphon some off for themselves.

Unofficial European Super League here we come.

We are almost there now, all they need to do is ensure the last 16 contain the big names, set up the tv money and away they go. Just got to ensure we are part of it.

Would pretty much require a complete revolution within football. To get a UEFA licence you need to comply, for England to compete in Euro 2012 or any similar tournament they need their member clubs to comply fully and if they don't they can easily cast the whole nation aside. To attempt to create our own tournament in protest at rules aimed at encouraging sensible spending is ridiculous. The way we spend now is not sustainable, i'm thankful for the fact we are now in a position to really go places but business wise it cannot continue, the Sheikh is rich but he doesn't want to ply billions into this club without a personal guarantee that he will see a return, the return he demands is Manchester City's global domination, we can't attract any players to achieve this without Champions League football, therefore there is no other way around it, we must do what is needed to fully comply with these rules.

Even our own chairman has said things cannot continue without a massive increase in income. If it was so easy to get around these rules then they'd of thrown them in the toilet but we are complying as a means of increasing our turnover, there is no easy way out when it comes to this. We can try and sue UEFA but at the end of the day they own the global rights to their Champions League, Europa League brands and can determine who is eligible for entry and who isn't as they see fit it has nothing to with restriction of trade or however else you want to coin it, they make the rules, if we don't follow we don't get into their competitions.

Call the FFP what you want, UEFA money making control scheme or an actual fair play ruling, whatever happens this system will come into force it already has and if we don't plan on complying or causing trouble you can kiss goodbye to any form of European football, we will be frozen out.

UEFA will gladly let individual leagues and associations exist as they are of the mindset of 'divide and conquer' or at least control.

But they no doubt want to cap wages, control agents costs and encourage infrastructure development.

But to have healthy teams across the piece the poor need to be given more money and it wont be from UEFA's share.

Ironically you can have an ESL within UEFA as the big clubs will always be at the top, and the CL will become so uncompetitive that the Europa League will become a massive B tournament and the elite will compete in the CL.

Increasing our turnover is why I posted about TV money, we could double/triple our income if we got the same TV money as the Spanish elite.

Definitely, the Spanish league has a massive advantage over us, it's interesting to see though that clubs like Barcelona recieve these huge amounts of money and are still saddled in debt. UEFA would always argue though that La Liga and the Spanish FA make the rules and that if the English wanted to be more competitive they should open up the TV money to the highest bidder, basically they'll say its not their problem.

The problem UEFA may have is that due to the economic downturn its highly possible that the Champions League is just a league full of teams who have been well run financially rather then who is the most competitive. Think i read in one of their own reports around 12-20 clubs already competing in Europe are on target to fail to comply with the FFP rules.
