Fifa 14

I realise I’m in a minority here but I really like it.

Headers are a little over-powered but I’m finding that I’m scoring more than I’m conceding, never used to score from corners but Dzeko got three in one game! As for through balls over the top, adjust your formation and drop your defence a little deeper if it’s really causing you a problem. I find the ball over the top always finds the opposition striker but defenders seem to be a lot quicker than attackers so I always catch up to make a tackle.

I rarely have a problem controlling the ball, the odd one bounces a little but if you’re in a tight spot use the pace control button and you’ll kill the ball easily. I find the lack of acceleration a little frustrating, particularly with Aguero as you used to be able to find half a yard to get a shot away quite easily, but it’s not a big issue. Dribbling is almost pointless with players like Negredo and Dzeko, as it should be, but I go past defenders regularly with Nasri and in particularly Navas.

Through balls along the floor are easier as your other players make far more runs than in previous games.

I’ve had to adjust the way I play from Fifa 13 but if it was the same every year it’d be boring and frankly, no-one’s going to pay £40 for updated squads.

If you enjoy it then fair play your deffo in the vast minority. If you visit the official EA forums it is rammed full of unhappy customers. The fact that EA the laziest company known to man has decided to do a fix patch so soon after release shows you how broken this game is.

I like it too. So many of the complaints in here add up to little more than "I AM NOT AS GOOD ANY MORE!!! 1!!". The precision dribbling is easily the most intricate play on any fifa game while the sprinting, passing and shooting are more natural than ever.

They put out a patch straight after every fifa don't they? Last year they did it after only 2 or 3 days.

im in 2 minds some of it i love some of it i dont... i dont like the fact that they have removed holding the back left trigger (L2) to enable the tricks... i used this a hell of alot and now it just feels weird when i dont use it, i also used this when i wanted to smash it with power but that doesnt seem to work either

I actually really like that, the way the tricks are so integral now, feints and small shifts have become so important rather than seeming really separate. Love the different speeds of dribbling now too.

Haven't played with good teams all too much, pretty heavily into my PNE career.

Worst football game I've ever played. The control sometimes is so outrageous it makes you want to smash your pad, makes players like Messi seem like Lescott. Every player seems capable of doing a Silva esque through ball and players turn so slow it's hard to believe, so much for realism. Gave pes a go but unfortunately that's just as shit. Fifa 13 was so good and now this :(

I was doing ok online, probably won the same kind of percentage as I did on 13 but when I won a game I got little or no more satisfaction than when I lost. I've stopped playing it now anyway. For me a video game should be much more fun than going to work not much less. I seriously resent the fact the game cost me 40 quid. EA cunts.

In hindsight we all should have expected it. The Xbox One and PS4 with a different version of Fifa 14 will be released in 8 weeks, no doubt much more time and effort was put into that.

I still win pretty much every online 1v1 I play but like you said, it's boring and scrappy most of the time.
