FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Final Group Games | 23-27 June '25

How have Benfica won that group? Bayern now on a tasty quarter final Collison course with PSG and a potential semi final against Madrid. Makes us beating Juve that bit more beneficial as that side of the draw is a cake walk to the final compared to the other side. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Madrid who have the benefit of playing last throw their game for an easier route if that's how it unfolds before they play.

Bit of a farce making a point of having all final games kick off together only to have one delayed for weather rendering it completely pointless.

Shit pitches, extreme weather, an inability to be able to kick off when scheduled, The US in their traditional cocky, bullish arrogance are so underprepared to host a world cup. If you're in a part of the world where the game is at the complete mercy of the weather, build a fucking roof. I bet next year, the Mexico and Canada held games will be fine and the US based ones will be a shitshow.

Bloody hell why didn't Auckland put everyone in the box then?

Do they think they can take Boca back to New Zealand for a replay?

Great to see Auckland get a point. That's remarkable really considering their ranking is similar to a non league team.

Just in case people were curious - and to put the scale of the achievement into perspective. The closest ranked team to Auckland City in the English league system is Spennymoor Town.

Before kick off tonight Spennymoor were ranked 16 places below Auckland City in 5,020th in Opta’s global power rankings.

Spennymoor just finished 9th in the National League North - the sixth tier of English football.

To put that into 'local' thoughts, Boca had 20+ corners and drew with Curzon Ashton.

Benfica leading against Bayern is "stunning" ??
Considering the circumstances (Groups stage, heat) not really but still Bayern has always been the worst team for us in H2H (0-3-10 before today I believe) so it was good to finally win one against them, I thought it might never happen at this point

See some comments about Otamendi, he does some mistakes here and there and suffers a bit playing high line, but his mentality is one of the best i have seen (like Ruben) and still thrives when playing in lower blocks. Legend for sure, impressive at 37 still playing like this

Weird take.

That result didn't matter anyway. They were going out regardless of their result because Benfica beat Bayern.
Why is it weird?

This competition is here to say whether anyone likes it or not? With £100m+ as the prize for the winner (which we are capable of doing btw) I'd much rather see the wonderfully passionate fans from Argentina & Brazil adding more colour and vibrancy to the latter stages, dispelling the myth back home that 'nobody cares' .... (from Red Cartel members mostly)

It's a strange comment because Boca Juniors were already out. This game inconsequential, so to say 'not really, I'd much rather see Boca and their passionate fans go further in the competition' is a strange response. Auckland had a nice moment. It mattered not in the end as Boca Juniors were already eliminated.

Boca could have qualified if Bayern had won and Boca gave Auckland a pasting to go through on GD.

South American fans have saved this tournament .
