FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

How have the games been in general?

I noticed yesterday that every game was a score - nil or a nil - nil yesterday and see that streak has continued to all nine games!

At a glance it suggests the games aren't very competitive. Is that the case?

None of the games have seen the best teams against each other yet.

Some have been first time qualifiers trying to keep the score down, but they've managed that pretty well up to a point.

Last WC USA beat Thailand 13-0. This time they beat Vietnam (pretty equivalent team) 3-0. England only beat Haiti 1-0, didn't play well but in part because Haiti did well too.

Some of the games have been lacking quality, but the worst teams at least have organisation it seems.

Womens football just doesn't do it for me..but I can happily watch womens gymnastics all day

Well Sepp Blatter did have some brilliant ideas about women's football

Sepp Blatter, the president of the world governing body Fifa, said women should have skimpier kit to increase the popularity of the game. "Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball," he said. "They could, for example, have tighter shorts. Female players are pretty, if you excuse me for saying so, and they already have some different rules to men - such as playing with a lighter ball. That decision was taken to create a more female aesthetic, so why not do it in fashion?"

None really. But that’s no sleight on women’s sports because these days I’m not really that interested in many male sports. Even football I only watch City, very rarely watch a game that doesn’t involve us. I spend an awful lot of my life out and about so the rare occasion I’m chilling indoors I whack the fire stick on and watch some series or log onto BM and argue with dickheads. It’s quite cathartic.
I know what you mean; City aside I don’t really watch much mens footy.
In terms of womens sports it’s probably only athletics where I’ve an equal interest in womens and mens events.

tbh most group games in the Euros/WC tend to be tough low scoring games
