FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

You won’t grow the game by turning your back on the very women/girls/fans you are desperately trying to engage.

They where walking into a heroes welcome, not the lions den.

It was a poor decision.

They didn't go out the front because the fans waiting were outnumbered by the players and staff, if there would have been thousands or even hundreds outside they would have been exiting the front door.

Poor decision all round.

Well if they'd won, then they'd have probably been a bit more up for it then wouldnt they. But if people can't tell the different between that scenario and turning up for a selfie with people enduring one of the most crashing lows of their career on top of a flight back from Australia then that's their problem.
It’s actually not a bad flight.. especially in business class and I’m sure they wouldn’t have been travelling cattle class.

I do wonder if other countries try and sell failure as success as much as we do, genuine question btw. I know the Wales men's team parade and such was laughable but there wasn't much expectation around them.
Canadian mens team are still celebrating Alphonso Davies scoring their first ever goal at the World Cup last summer.

Yeah at 5'8 if she's not got her positioning quite right she can't rely on her height/agility to get her out of trouble in the way other goalies might and it never looks great on replay, but she had a superb tournament again. Generally speaking, quite a few of the goalies had good tournaments. Honorable mentions to Australia's Arnold and also Sweden's Musovic (who surely won't want to remain as second choice at Chelsea moving forward)

Chelsea have also signed Hampton.

I absolutely friggin hated when I did it. Sure it wasn't business class but it's a long tiring journey regardless. And probably moreso after the two months prior. Probs a moot point anyway as they're saying they didn't know in the first place.

Either way, I wouldn't have taken my kid down there. There's plenty of other opportunities to catch them and where I think they'd be on better form.

Yeah which makes me think they're planning to phase her in over the next couple of years as there's no way she's joined to be third choice.

Hampton was interviewed at the Hundred cricket yesterday - she said Chelsea presented her with a long term plan for her development. I was surprised how short she is, unless the woman interviewing her was really tall.
