FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

Will be interesting who wins BBC team of the year if England win.

Seem to remember we lost our to the netball team after the domestic treble.

Jeda Vu of the 2018 men's World Cup..... Germany went into their final group game needing a result against Korea, only to go home soon after.

So, that's two group stage eliminations in a row for the men's team at the World Cup, with a very lucky last minute goal against Hungary in-between to go through and send them home at Euro 2020 thus avoiding a triple whammy of group stage eliminations in as many tournaments and now the women go out at the same stage themselves.

Just like the men in major tournaments, the last two games they have been utterly dire with no real attacking threat, and a statue-like defence.

Everyone had them to cruise this after beating Morocco 6-0 in the first game. Well done Morocco especially with the low world ranking and may I add although it's a bit late, well done Jamaica. They had to use crowdfunding to get here, now look, into the next stage.

If we won the big one and made it four, I think we would have got it.

If I had to chose between that and the Community Shield, I'll always pick the latter. It's been going on since the 1880s.

The bottom half of the draw has really opened up for England with the latest results. At the start of the tournament I gave us little chance, but sometimes the unexpected happens and things just fall into place...

Should be looking for the semi's at least from this position with France or the Aussies waiting. The stronger/in form teams all seem to be in the top half with some interesting matches coming up there. USA vs Sweden is a really tough match-up and winners most likely to face Japan.

To me this tournament regardless who wins it, will always be about and remembered for the underdogs going through to the knockouts and about five highly ranked teams going home. They defied expectations massively.

We've had people on SM after the first round of matches saying it was wrong to expand the tournament, only that this expansion has two rounds later soon worked out. A good number of newcomers to this tournament taking advantage of that are still here.

I can only hope that the men's tournament having 48 teams in it next time around, has a similar benefit.

Japan are fantastic to watch.

Not sure who it was as they didn't show a replay, but the turn and throughball about 5 minutes before the 2nd goal was pretty much as good as anything I've seen.
They have been great in the second half, loved the third goal.
