FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

Glad Sweden are through although I was wrong saying earlier on that I thought the USA would move up a gear or two now it's the knockout phase.

They simply have not improved once in this tournament and Sweden deserved it. I actually wanted that last penalty to be a goal when the ref consulted VAR. I always thought goalline incidents were in the protocol to be goal line system decisions only and VAR not allowed to be used, hence in 2020 when Sheffield United had that goal chalked off against Villa, in which the goalline system failed and the ref refused to use the VAR despite Sheff Utd players saying to do so. It got Bournemouth relegated ultimately. If this is a rule change for officials, then good to see.

Sweden in recent times in the men's game haven't been having a good time, so it's great to see the women get so far.

I hope they get to the semis at least.

I'm not really surprised by the US's exit..

4 big mistakes by the US:

#1 Vlato taking off Alex Morgan
#2 US being abysmal with their chances
#3 Allowing the game to go to penalties
#4 3 players missing the goal all together..
FFS at least force the keeper to make a save.

Walsh back for England, having missed just one game. Fast recovery for our best player considering how bad it looked. Good news.

Just watched England sing the national anthem didn’t realise how ugly the fuckers were:)
Oh, you were watching a replay of the England Male team were you?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Georgia Stanway, Lucy Bronze a few others quite good looking young ladies.

EDIT: They are not out there to show off their glamourous side, they are there to play football. :-)
