I'll read the book so. Nice one.
Funny actually as i read it 30 years ago in the summer as i was starting Uni and it was one of 5 books selected and we had to read one and then join a discussion group with everyone else who read the same book.
On the day our group were full in discussion and at the break this scouser asked me what the fuck everyone was talking about...
"Didnt you read the book?" I asked...
"No, got the video the other night and watched it"

I purposely watched the video a few weeks later and understood why he had no idea what we were talking about!

I actually started my uni course 30 years today! Thanks for bringing back that memory. Manchester Poly at Didsbury, 2 years of happy days... .

Ya thanks for ruining my favourites film.

two more with Lee Marvin,
Cat Ballou
Emperor of the North Pole,
a must see. Set in depression era Oregon, a hobo whose name is A no.1 (Marvin) trial of hopping trains, and other setbacks, compounded by a sadistic conductor(Ernest Borgnine), while not quite tolerating a dumb punk rival(Keith Carradine). directed by Robert Aldrich. Beautifully filmed.
Like the period film Paper Moon you really get a sense of being in those times.
