Final year project help

Hi,

I am creating a DBMS(Data Base Management system) and i will be using Visual Basic .NET to create my front end.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to which program i could use to create my database in.

My constraints are

it has to be cheap if not free.

Can be installed on a normal computer and easily connected to my vb front end.


I would be gratefull if anyone could give me advice as my final year project review update is due tommorow afternoon.

mysql is a popular free database, easy to install also
