I agree. Mancini was my man of the match today. 10/10. I'm not criticising Stevie Ireland, because he had to do a job out of position for the team, but he was unsure positionally, and Wolves got some joy down that flank. Hughes would have left things as they were and waited for Wolves to score. Mancini moves Zab over to right midfield to shore it up, bringing Garrido on in the process. It was a fantastic decision. Hughes only ever changed like for like. Mancini makes every subsition with TACTICS firmly in mind. The guy is incredibly impressive. Then, Petrov was getting tired and this could potentially have presented a breakthrough for Wolves, so he takes him off for Robinho and moves Bellamy to the left. Again, a quality substitution that helped us see out the game.
Also, our defending today was excellent, particularly from set pieces. We are proving that zonal marking works when done properly. And that's all done to Mancini and Kidd getting them organised.
