City are definitely more successful than Arsenal. Not so sure about being higher profile, but Arsenal are more attractive commercially. So are Liverpool who have been shit for years. United are more attractive commercially than Arsenal and Liverpool. They probably would remain the most attractive team in the country, even if they went 8 years without a trophy or 23 years without a league title. Its just one of those things.

If a major company gave me the task of securing shirt deals with Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City,Wigan, Bolton and Stockport, and gave me a budget of 100 million a year I'd probably offer United 45 million, Arsenal 35 million, City 15 million, Wigan 3 million,Bolton 1.5m and Stockport .5m.

It says a lot about the delusion of your supporters to believe that an Arsenal shirt deal is worth more than double City's today.

The events of last week have demonstrated that as a club we passed you on the outside lane, sometime around May last year I would say. Do you think if your manager had a training ground spat with one of your strikers it would even make your local news, let alone be splashed all over the globe?

We are the Premier League Champions and one of the most talked about sporting entities on the planet, you haven't won a trophy for eight years. What would possibly possess an objective person in control of their faculties to give more than double to sponsor Arsenal over City.

Welcome to the future, my friend.

It's fucked us over hasn't it. Otherwise we would have seen some proper signings in summer on the back of our title win (richest owner in world football, league champions, and we buy... Sinclair, Maicon, Rodwell, Richard Wright!?) if it wasn't for this FFP bullshit we'd surely have got De Rossi, Thiago Silva and RvP and have the title virtually in the bag already! Absolutely gutted, I wish we could either fuck it off and call Platini's bluff or get the best lawyers available to blow it away somehow. Platini has pretty much handed the rags about 5 more titles that we should be winning. The twat.

This is all too true, sadly.

FFP ended up being structured with City specifically in mind (Platini even mentioned us in his 'plea' speech to the EU to help UEFA curb spending in football). And our owners clearly don't want to be seen to be the first to be seen to publicly challenge FFP, unlike PSG's owners.

So it means we're the first to be clearly slowed down by FFP, even if it does get scrapped altogether in years to come.

Arsenals and the rags

We're getting up to 25m a year from Emirates for our new shirt deal as of next year. The Mancs are getting 40 odd million from GM (who sacked the bloke who sanctioned the deal). Both deals are pretty straight forward, and probably reflect the brand value of the clubs (am I the only one who feels uncomfortable using that kind of terminology in a football discussion?). You get more from Etihad, despite being a less valuable brand. If Everton or Newcastle had proposed a deal like that to Etihad they'd have been laughed at by the Etihad people.

But the Etihad sponsorship deal is for the whole Campus not just the shirt. Trust me when that is finished it will probably look like we let it go on the cheap.

Exactly GX. It isn't just a shirt deal. Shirt, Training Academy, Etihad Campus.

United's is shirt only. And that cost a senior GM Exec his job and was renegotiated.

The exposure Etihad got from last season last minute title winner was priceless. Etihad have secured a tremendous deal.

We probably haven't seen anything yet regarding future sponsorship deals. Mansour and the people that work for him are financial wizards. Guessing. In the future City's revenues will match, if not better United's. :-)

I concur. PSG will never get sanctioned as they have Platini in their pocket. City on the other hand is perhaps the single biggest reason for the Fair Play even forming. Our owners showed restrain this summer to ensure our expenditure did not go beyond a limit where UEFA would dick us around.

As for the comments about Chelsea, last season they posted their first year of profit (€1.6m) in Abramovich's reign. They will continue to spend and be safe from the vice grip of UEFA. Put simply, we are where Chelsea was financially in 07/08ish.

In 2011/2012 City's revenue shot up to £231m and commercial revenue contributed £112m towards that. That's for the last financial year. Now that we are Champions you can be sure that MCFC will be moe attractive commercially. Arsenal have a job on their hands to qualify for the Champions League

After the way their fans behaved towards their former players Adebayor and Nasri, I sincerely hope Spurs and Chelsea finish above them.

They may well beat us at the weekend though

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

Can't confirm these figures are correct. Possible pinch of salt. Taken from another forum.(Arsenal)

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

I seem to recall the campus sponsorship deal not including any further inner campus models, that may need a seperate campus sponsorship deal/name....bit like the egg in the egg...lark n'half if they pull that one.

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

Which is why issuing new contracts saves money.

Eg. Aguero costs £7.6m a year currently. Give him a new 5-year deal and his amortisation goes down to £4.5m. Saving £3.1m a year.

Re: Financial Fair Play will not affect us.

Reading this topic is very interesting and I have to admit I know FA about the inner workings of FFP respect to PB seems to have a good handle on it.

My take on it is regardless of the rules clubs such ours, chelsea etc. are always going to find ways to get around them so they can use their advantage of having cash to spend that the rules says they cannot.

Does have anyone any news about the PSG attempt to by-pass the rules with their tourist board deal. this is the most significant development regarding FFP as they have been the most blatant challange to their rules. Abramovich came first and was unrestricted, we came next and sent alarm bells ringing. W e have been inventive with our attempts to both adhere tothe rules while trying to take of our own interests, The PSG deal is really pushing the rules and so far is the acid test to see exactly how much UEFA are committed to this. My uneducated take on this is if the PSG deal is allowed to stand then we can all relax about this shit. . ???????????????????
