Finish 4th or Win The FA Cup?

A agree! finishing 4th is a complete failure, finishing 2nd is! which is why I'd rather win the FA Cup! 4th place doesn't even get you in the Champions Lg anyway, it gets you into a play off to get into the Champions Lg and now there is no seeding for that so we could end up with Celtic Sevilla Valencia Lyon ACMilan ASRoma and what are the chances we'd get through against these teams with their experience of European footaball!? I'd say it'd be a 70% chance that we'd end up in the Europa Lg anyway! and if we did get through, with our lack of experience in Europe I'd say we'd struggle to get into 1st or 2nd place in the group and end up either in the Europa Lg anyway or out of Euope totally!

So what's the point!? I'm not interested in the Champions Lg yet! I'd rather build 2 years of Euro experience in the Europa Lg and give ourselves a shout of actually winning that comp within 2 years! then in 3-5years time get ourselves established as a regular top 4 Prem team and Champions Lg regulars!

I'm in no rush for anything, players, competitions, success; I'd rather do it gradually and realistically! you've already seen the total unrealistic expectations of City fans now and the total overreaction when we don't play well for 2/3 games!
 
It does seem stupid to choose 4th over silverware but I'm afraid that it is the best result for the club!

A cup is best result for the players and the fans who all want to win something.

Lucky it's not a choice - but if it was I would choose 4th.

I'm a realist, swaying toward pesemist and I think we will just miss out on 4th - our run of games is by far the hardest.

3 points at Stoke - a must win {aren't they all}

3 points against Liverpool and Spurs and I may have a different opinion though!

We all know it's going to be tough against Stoke away in the cup with all the players we have missing!

If we win the F.A cup us fans we be estatic but for the progress of the club champions league football will take us to that next level.
 
4th for me. Qualify and then we can build a team to give it a go. Not to mention the money angle it generates


And on a cautionary note; look what winning the FA Cup has done for Pompey.

In fact if you offered me a guarenteed six points away at Stoke and Chelsea I'd take that above beating them both in the cup.





Winning the cup would be good all the same though ;)
 
I've always said winning the Cup would be more important and I want to go out of this mortal coil having seen us win something. Finishing fourth is no guarantee that we ever will so, on that basis, I want the Cup. Wembley and a resultant trophy would be all we've dreamed of

BUT

I really do think that finishing in the top four is becoming a neccessity, this year, if we are to kick on to the next level. Miss out and we are not going to get the world's best players here no matter what the dreamers think. Liverpool become stronger as we do and the gap will remain.

In theory, a Cup this year and no four place and it might be the last glory we ever see. If we win nothing this year and finish fourth, it may just mean that many more cups are inevitable.

Anyway, it's bloody irrelevant because we'll never get past away ties at Stoke and Chelsea in a million years, the way we shape up away from home!:)
 
Winning the FA Cup would be a fantastic day.

But long term 4th would give us Champions league football, and move this club on so 4th for me too

when you see fulham charging 49 quid, you think whats the fucking point.

love to see us win the cup, and then after 33 years of trying to see us win the holy grail, i could walk away and spend time with my family, while the game just drifts away from ordinary people who have followed the game for years.
