FA Cup all day long, finishing forth means nothing.
We will get champs league next year if not this but we won't have won anything. I can't believe anyone would take fourth over the FA cup.

Ribery we won f.a cup last year will you sign for us ?, FUCK OFF
Ribery we are in the C/l and we will give you lots of oil, will you sign for us ?.....er....er....er......er.......No

4th place. You've got to think about the long run here, if we win the FA Cup it's just a trophy. Sure it'd be nice to see some silverware at long last, but for a club that wants to progress and evolve into the world's best and title challengers, one trophy means nothing. 4th place however, that would enable us to attract more top class players to the club, it'd give us a chance to prove ourselves on the biggest stage, it would give us global recognition, all of these things are much more valuable than one trophy at this stage in our development.

I would rather win the FA cup than sign some more players that are always injured. Ribery is fucked, he's like a short Santa Cruz.
If the argument for finishing fourth is to attract better players, then it is self defeating. We want to attract better players to win things but you would give up actualy winning something for this.
We could be another arsenal just scraping into the Champs league every year but actually winning fuck all.
If we get to Wembley(for the final) that will be a party. Coming fourth I might have a couple of beers but that is not a memorable day out.

No but Liverpool could be taken over in the summer, spend a load of money after finishing 4th and be too far away again. All that for a Pompy style day out to Wembley?

I'd rather have the chance to see us play at the Bernabeu and the Allianz Arena and then have an even better chance to go to Wembley with a great squad of players.

4th is better for our future.

Why does nobody understand that finishing 4th doesn't get you into the Champions Lg!!?? it gets you into a play-off which is no longer seeded and you can end up playing anyone! when is this play-off!? is it not in early September!? well the transfer window ends on Sept1st doesn't it!? and any decent players will actually be signed up to champion clubs!

so save yer 4th place! I'll be interested in the Champions Lg when we're challenging for the title in 8 years from now!

Nobody should be in any doubt over this. It has to be the FA Cup.

If you are still not convinced look at the emotion on F Bloke's " What City's Success would mean to you" thread.

The Champions League is all about Money. Guess what - we are the richest club in England and Europe and the World. We dont need money.

Our ambition isn't to win the FA cup. Our ambition is to be the biggest club in the world. That means winning the Champions league followed by the world club championship(if it still exists?) We need to attract top players and for this we need to be in the CL. Whether that's via knock out rounds or straight into the group stage is immaterial. When was the last time a PL team didn't make it to the group stage?

Attracting the players will make us more likely to win the FA cup in the future. Winning the FA cup will not make us more likely to attract players. Remove your emotion and think of the big picture.

i wasnt really on about ribery as such i was trying to highlight that the top players in the world are more likely to come to us if we have champions league football, i wanna win a trophy as much as the next fan but for the future of city champions league is more important this season than an F.a cup win.

Finish 4th and then with the addition of another couple of big signings, a possibility of a new Manager ( Jose according to some) and then play Valencia, Dynamo Moscow, PSV, Hamburg or someone early September and lose over two legs.

Or,

Win the FA Cup and get the Monkey of our back, tear that Banner down and allow this current by and large very strong squad time to progress and have a real stab at a title challenge next season.

Not to mention the joy that would last a lifetime.

I'm not bothered about being the biggest club in the world. I would just like City to win something.
As for removing my emotion, that is imposible. I've been to Wembley twice following City and they were great days that I will always remember. Even if we lost the first time. Winning a trophy doesn't come along to often and I think some of you believe it is inevitable we will win things every year once we are in the champs league. It will not be that simple.

Apologies. Probably a little over the top. I hope you made the same " Thats the spirit" jibe yesterday to all the posters saying lets not bother now we have drawn Chelsea.

I gave up hope after reading the "it must be an FA conspiracy against us" thread!

erm...no, why would we lose when we've invested in quality players for once unlike the mediocrity by and large that Mancini's stuck with now?

Tear the banner down next year, we've waited years another 1 so we can make a massive impact won't hurt.

If we don't finish 4th, we won't have a great squad because no-one will come with no Champions League. Plus, we won't challenge the league because our squad isn't very strong because we can't beat Hull, we can't beat Stoke and we're playing shit with this squad.
