First record you ever bought?

There was just nothing correct in your post.

London and Birmingham, easily confused, I suppose they are civilisation that just isnt seen in Oldham.

Noddy is from Walsall not Wolverhampton, Dave Hill was brought up there but was born in Devon.

Of those with Christmas hits it's Wizard who are from Birmingham, keep trying though.

Alrooooooiiiiiiiight skip!

That's the first time I've ever seen that video ,I was only 8 when I bought it .have you got an excuse ? :+)

I was 10 so hope that makes it okay :-) 1973 was a top year with a mixture of glam, cheese, prog, rock, Anne-Marie David .....and Perry Como. Timeless soul classics from the likes of the O'Jays, First Choice, New York City, The Drifters, Billy Paul, New York Emeralds, Detroit Spinners......Fabulous!!

Just a thought my kids 16and 18 have never seen a record player have no idea what a 33 or 45 is ,don't own any CDs .
And the concept of actually paying for any music is totally alien to them !!!
The girl connects her phone to the car and her music has no rythem no beat and I tell her carnt wait to see you dancing to that at your 21st disco," what's a disco dad" ffs

First single: Mr Blue Sky by ELO (I still like the song and it instantly transports me back to 1977, but I took some flak from my older brothers at the time. However, if I'd had any money in 1975, my first single would probably have been something by ABBA, so it could have been worse...)
First Album: Separates by 999 (not as good as their first album, but before they decided it was a good idea to have two drummers)

Jesamine by The Casuals. Then grew up with soul and Tamla from the 70's and they are all still in boxes in the loft, except "Al Capone" Prince Buster and "Shake" by Otis which some kid nicked at a usual cider fuelled party adolescent schoolies arranged in those days. Please return if it was you!

Either Knock Three Times by Tony Orlando and Dawn or Back Home by the 1970 England World Cup Squad, I can't remember which,

As a demon winger / striker for my infant school football team in Shaw, I was part of the team that was never beaten in the league 1970 / 71 and drew the cup final and shared the trophy. As part of our leaving concert before going to big school, the team went up on stage in full kit and sang Back Home to all the mums and dads in the audience. Bit ironic really as we never travelled further than Royton
