first wedding anniversary

If Mrs This is reading this, your latest post in the Kate Abdo thread will be the best present your good lady can receive. You're concerned about Ms Abdo's knees?

it would be nice to give her something she could keep ,I reckon the first anniversary is the most important , depends on the money available ,

jewellery ,one of them charm bracelets with a charm ,something to do with paper , then every year you could get the most relevant charm , job done forever.

a night away
flowers
perfume
undies
handcuffs
nipple clamps
gag

see where this is going :)

or a nice lesbian friend, :)

^^^^ now there's a thought....

anyway, off in to town for a child-free celebration night - Keep the ideas coming though as I'll be shopping in the morning... (where do I go to buy her a nice lesbian friend?)

haha

I reckon the charm bracelet is the way forward,if you've got kids already (dirty buggers) then a night away as well .

You need to think long term. The worst thing you can do is set the bar too high too early and create problems for yourself down the road.

Think about the absolute maximum you would ever want to spend on an anniverary present - say £5000.
Now think about how long you are going to be married. If you're 25-30, proboably around 50 years is a reasonable estimate.

So for your 50th you would spend £5k. For your silver wedding you'd shell out £2500 and for your 10th anniversary £1000, basically following a linear pattern. Now for the first few years you want things to be a bit more exciting, so you shold be doubling the amount you spend each year.
So you're paying £1000 in year 10. Thats
£500 in year 9, £250 in year 8
£125 in year 7 £62.50 in year 6
£31.25 in year 5 £16 in year 4
£8 in year 3 £4 inyear 2
and £2 for your first anniversary.

Which is about the price of a half decent card (made of paper).

I was going to mention cumulative inflation but you've more or less covered it.
