I liked Kevin Keegan though .... he was a 'fans' manager , and very approachable .....

in retrospect i wish he'd stayed on , and we'd never encroached on the damning Stuart Pearce era ..... but with him spending a fair bit of dosh , and the team struggling still , it was never really an option.

I quite like him as a person, but I'm not a big fan of him as a coach. I grateful for him for bringing us up, but after that, lors of things just went downhill. The millions upon millions he wasted on absolute dross. Some of the signings he made were just a joke. Apparantly the reason Keegan walked out is because the board stood up to him and told him there was no money available, he wanted to sign some Canadian striker. Eh? (No pun intended). He left us at the wrong end of the table and thank god Stuart Pearce saved us that season otherwise we could have ended up in the Championship.

Yes, Keegan did some good things for the club. The inclusion of Ali Benarbia for one, he was sensational in his first season but not good enough for the Prem (age a factor). Nicolas Anelka joining the club and the emergence of SWP and Joey Barton. Although I feel Pearce really brought the latter two players on.
