I say home 1st because my mate says Rags have asked to be away 1st game as pitch won't be done in time. Anybody know if this as been confirmed?

I have been told exactly the same today from a very good source so if we get their fixtures we should get one of the promoted teams at home

This is absolutely right. Because United need to lay their umpteenth pitch and give it time to re-seed (and then they have to extract all the chewing gum that is bedded in near the benches), City are definitely at Home for our first game. I go withthe hunch of those who predict that we will play one of the promoted teams (Cardiff?), but don't really know...rest assured though we are (once more) at Home for the first game. It helps having the best groundsman in the Premier League in Lee Jackson.

Funny, because we still have the concerts on and when they finish there is a load of clearing up, so it will still be a week or so before we 'reclaim' the pitch and it will not have a single blade of grass on it..... and yet it will be ready and look immaculate for that first home game. Part is our wonderful groundsman and part is a modern stadium that has built-in features that ensure the pitch will always be amongst the best two or three in the League. 'Old Scaffold' doesn't get near....it didn't cost them the league last year, but it has in the past and it might in the future. SSN say their new one has cost them £500,000. It sounds like they've cheapskated again. If they started from scratch (and they should have done) then they need to spend twice that to get a surface becoming of Premier League Champions.

I believe the rags have requested an away game first due to pitch issues.
