Fixtures Calendar - 2024/25

When it was between BBC and ITV, BBC had the first pick one gameweek (Round 3) and then ITV the next round (Round 4) and so on. BBC I think picked first in QFs and SFs too. But then both were free-to-air and limit to how many games they can pick each round (equal) ... now TNT Sports has the main contract and the deal is for ALL games. Part of that is they will give two for free to air to BBC and also they will decide what they don't want and only those will be put on Sat 3pm slot ... so they can have a game Thu night, one Fri night, one Sat early, two late 5:30 and 8:00pm and then againt 2-3 on Sunday and another on Monday ... so it's anyone's guess as this is the first year they have it back (from the old days of when ESPN had the FA Cup, which later went to BT Sport and now TNT Sports), so we'll find out I guess. I personally doubt that BBC will have first picks or the same muscle they had over ITV in previous years.

Whatever happens, we're not playing Salford City at Saturday 3pm, that's for sure ... where they put us is anyone's guess right now. I am hoping we hear some news tomorrow or Friday itself.
Yes, on that basis I’d agree that the arsenal game for example will be on TNT, but maybe ours might be BBC.

As you say, we’ll know pretty soon how generous or otherwise TNT choose to be - they could end up giving BBC the absolute leftovers. It’s all about the terms of the agreement/contract.

Edit.
A quick online search of bbc media dept statements tells me the agreement you’re talking about Mag doesn’t kick in till 25-26 season!

Yes you are correct, given this was struck early this year (Jan/Feb 2024) I had assumed it's from this season:

"The four-year deal, if no sub-licensing agreement had been put in place, would have put the competition behind a paywall, with the BBC and rival ITV losing their rights to broadcast the competition (which they hold until the end of the 2024-25 season)."

"The original TNT deal had, however, included a commitment to make matches from each round free-to-air, either via its own platforms or in partnership with a terrestrial channel."

So business as usual for this season, and we'll find out if it's BBC or ITV and BBC has first pick for Round 3 (if I remember correctly, off the top of my head).
