Fixtures Calendar - 2025/26

Bugger, you're right. There's no way the police will allow it on the Sunday 19th as the Marathon, 43,000 runners, road closures etc.
Could move to Saturday at 5:30pm, most likely, or Monday at 8pm. The follwing week is notionally a free midweek, so Monday is possible. Police wouldn't have the same objections to a late kick off as if it were United or Liverpool.
Provisionally may need to play Palace on Tuesday/Wednesday that week so suspect the Monday is out of the question as well. Don't think they can take the risk of not using that slot for Palace as they have to assume we'll need the later ones if we continue in the FA Cup.

I would expect Arsenal game to be 5.30 on the Saturday

James and Doves are at the Coop Live that evening so would be a test of our wonderful transport system.

Last time City played at home when the Marathon was on was in 2015. Good chance Arsenal will be a Sat 5.30pm kick off

Yeah. Same capacity as for James (Arthur) gig the other Saturday night, so guessing it would pan out similarly, transport-wise.

Edit. Though if a Monday night, roads and public transport across the city in general would be quieter than a Saturday maybe.

Bloody hell not another fucking night match.

I have just thought of something so radical that the TV won't possibly adopt it. Don't change fixtures when there is a chance that they will have to change again at such short notice. Pick another game that weekend and leave the CL teams to play at 3.00pm on a Saturday. Fans will get two weeks notice on whether the game is 12.30 or 8.00pm which means nobody can book transport, is a hotel needed etc and it's not just for the away fans, West Ham will be impacted as well. Put Palace v Leeds at 12.30 in the first place, solves all these issues.
Obviously 1500 is preferable but, for the West Ham game, why didn’t they just confirm it as 2000 instead of this Hokey Cokey which benefits absolutely nobody. It’s grossly unfair on City fans and West Ham fans but, as usual, no two shits are given…

It means, if we’re in the CL on the Wednesday before West Ham, it moves to 2000. If we’re on the Tuesday, it stays at 1230. Helpful for match going fans, as always!
As they won’t let it be a 3 o’clock, why they just don’t move it to 2000 and have done with it, is anyone’s guess.

Thing is - we are away in the first leg of the CL. I would be surprised if City agreed that the Newcastle match be played Saturday night if they thought it would be away on Tuesday. It is the same broadcaster (TNT), so I sense they have already agreed on us being the Wednesday in the CL.
If the risk is we are playing on the Tuesday, wouldn't City have pushed the FA Cup match to be Saturday lunchtime or even the Friday night?
There ARE other complications (such as three London clubs being at home the same midweek we are at home).
Just my opinion, I am not an in-the-know.
If I was betting now, though, I would assume West Ham is in the evening.
As I type this, I realise West Ham is a TNT match as well, even firming my conviction (some would say conspiracy).

TNT hates moving games to Saturday evening as the viewing figures are typically a lot lower than at lunchtime so advertising income gets badly impacted. The only other available slots however are Sunday midday and evening when the numbers are lower still.
TNT won’t move a game from Saturday lunchtime unless it has to. Unfortunately the broadcasting contract that’s in place allows that to happen.

Surely a British broadcaster doesn't get to dictate Champions League dates?

That’s correct. Anyone who suggests otherwise is dealing in conspiracy theories.
As it broadcasts UEFA games, TNT will be able to request its preferred dates but those will just be requests.
Loads of factors are beyond its control - policing, requests from other countries’ broadcasters, situations where for example Real and Atlético Madrid are both at home and have to play on different nights etc.

I dont disagree with what you say except that TNT is plugged into UEFA thinking being one of the major rights payers.
Also - begs the question why City agreed to the Newcastle time. It doesnt matter for Newcastle as they play at home next game. A match for City on Tuesday risks City playing a (relative) scratch team in the FA Cup.
(I was at that FA Cup match in 2016 against Chelsea. One tournament is much more important than the other.)
Anyway - we will know for certain within 48 hours.

It wasn't for us to agree to, it's in the broadcast agreement that if a team plays away on a Wednesday they can't play on the Saturday at 12.30.

This was brought in because Pep, Klopp and others kept complaining about it.

On a personal note: yet another shit show from the Premier League and the tv companies.
I need to select a time on the Saturday of the West Ham game when we as a family can attend something that is important.
I have 2 time slots. If the match is 12.30 I can do the later slot but of course if I pick that one and the match is moved.......
Because the stupid fuckwits can't be arsed looking after genuine fans I'm fucked, which do I select?

I am getting to the the stage of seeing my arse with the current greedy tv deal and football in general. No wonder fans are walking away from it.

Manchester Marathon is on that day and champions league games on the week before so I wouldn’t be to sure. The derby when Kompany scored the header was changed to a Monday night for the same reasons
Ironic seems how an Arse corner looks like the start of a marathon!
