The problem is that the fans on both sides give the clubs every excuse to say that they don't want any away fans at all for derbies.

This is indeed a bit annoying however outside the glare of scrutiny and in feeling untouchable they are becoming a nasty toxic group which will damage their own cause.

It should never be forgotten just how vile they are. Always have been and always will be. It is quite telling that they only had just under 3,000 fans there so one would assume those there were bona fida members with plenty of points or whatever they needed to get a ticket. So if that's their best fans what does it say about the rest?

Fans have a conscience and collective behaviour, They moderate themselves. This lot don't have that because no one is there to pull them up. That was building up. The whole ground was singing their Woodward is going to die chants. The media just commented on the toxic atmosphere but no one really said this was out of order and they never question their own values and tactics,. The result is the Woodward house attack. Elements have become emboldened and feel able to take liberties.
