Fleas

I buy drontal online but I have had to buy programme plus oral flea treatments off the vet as it is prescription only - it costs the price of a few pints so no biggie. Frontline isn't suitable for all breeds of dogs due to differences in depth of coat and whether or not the liquid can penetrate the fur down to the skin, some dog's coats repel moisture so the product sits on the surface rather than reaching the dog's skin. Everyone's dog should have at least an one annual consultation with a qualified vet for a health check, weight, etcetera, and a visit if something is wrong. To not take a dog to a vet when it's suffering to duck out of paying a small consultation fee is out of order imo. I'd imagine regular worming treatments are being overlooked by the OP as well because every vet will insist on these basic treatments to keep your pal healthy. All of my dogs have been insured so I never worry about cost but insurance is another thing some dog owners fail to pay for.

If a vets fee is more than it costs to put it down, then put it down.

Hi folks,

How in gods name do you get rid of fleas ?

So far I have used sprays, bathing the dog in anti flea shampoo, drops and salting all the floors, flea collars, hovering every, washing everything above 50 decrease day and my house is still infested.

Any ideas, I'm at breaking point AAHHHHHHH!!!!!

You don't be a dirty bastard.

I dunno boss, i consider one bite on the inside of my dogs leg the point to call red alert. Every day i groom him like a baboon would, brush him and then wipe his coat down. Regular baths and bedding change with a turn of the mattress to make life uncomfortable for any bed bugs etc. I keep bob martin flea spray just in case and he has a shower with his dad every 5th or 6th i have.

That sort of management will see your dog right i think as chopper never has a mark on him usually, maybe after a visit to the woods or the park but that is to be expected.

If it is really bad i would look at going room to room and cleaning everything and maybe get someone in to put some industrial strength stuff down?

Had dogs all my life and never had any insured. Also never given them flea treatment apart from one that i used frontline on. Rubber flea collar in summer does the trick.
Only time we had fleas in the house was when i was away and the dogs stayed at home. Came back to an infestation. Luckily my mate is a pest controller and a 20 minute spray of the house and flea baths for mutts did the trick immediately.

You have a shower with your dog?
That is vile

I had a flea problem a couple of years ago, and like you they wouldn't go away.
In the end I spent about £40 on half dozen flea bombs, empty the house of people & animals, set bombs off get out & stay out for 4 hours, then gave the cats some flea tablets, problem solved.

No matter how many times you treat your pets, if they're in the furniture they'll keep coming back.

I remember an old neighbour where i use to live. His carpet was moving with the amount of fleas.
