If booked direct with the airline then i'm pretty sure they have to.

As they have sold both flights together including the connection.

That is definitely usually the case
Probably any luggage will be checked through and they will just go through transit channel

It needs checking, they are selling the flights, getting to the gate in time is your responsibility.
It's not like the old days, when you could transfer between flights without the need to go through passport control and security

Delayed overnight

KLM from Manchester to Berlin, changing at Amsterdam. Going out first thing the day before the match and flying back from Berlin at 6.25pm the day after. £234 return. 2 nights in the Premier Inn 290 yards away from Leipzig train station for only 99 Euros.

Train direct to Leipzig £25ish return (3 hours)
2 nights hotel £40

(match ticket will be about £25)
