Floodlights at Maine Road

You've been registered on here for almost two years so I shan't call you a rag for bringing up the subject of our floodlights.

It was a close call though. I'll just call you a weirdo instead ;-)

Can't supply a pic of the floodlights....deffo got one of the biggest pitch in the league,though.

I think if anyone did get a picture of the floodlights, you'd have to laminate them before giving them to him ! :o)
 
When I was a nipper playing football in the park, I used to get well jealous seeing all these hordes of blokes heading to Maine Rd. All I got to see were the floodlights and then Dickie Davies reading out the result on World of Sport. But when I started going, the best ever atmosphere was night games under floodlight. Away games were even better, when you’d suddenly catch a glimpse of the floodlights when coming in on the train or coach. It's just another example of how football has changed. So let’s put the scrap metal from the B of the Bang to good use and bring back floodlights!

Night games at Maine Rd were magical in the mid to late 70's.
L'pool 76/77 wednesday night. ended up 1-1.
Packed to the rafters.
I was 13.
Intoxicating.
Lost the league by a point.
