maybe it’s to help in negotiations, we don’t know what is happening behind closed doors.
Could also help us in negotiations for other players too.
Nobody knows.
Plus they used to work closely together so I'm certain he would know Sami's sources would be reputable.
Not sure why people are still arsed by all this. We made our entreaties, knowing the costs involved, he made his decision and we put out that we were pulling out due to cost (more than likely as a dig at Liverpool and/or Bayern).

I spent some time trying to formulate a convincing argument in response to your insistence that Wirtz is going to Liverpool, in spite of your lack of sources, and that we just need to agree with you on this supposed fact simply because you said it is so...

Wirtz is likely off to Liverpool - or perhaps this is just a ploy to get Bayern to offer more - in which case he's off to Bayern.
Either way - Wirtz is a generational talent - and if he had genuine interest in a club other than Bayern - we should have been willing to at least match whatever Liverpool is offering - assuming that we withdrew our offer for Wirtz based on price - as numerous outlets I've previously quoted have stated.
Jack G has said we have ended interest and he has impeccable sources at City. Romano is very close with Viana and not only is he saying that we aren't interested anymore, he's saying Wirtz is very close to Liverpool; Ornstein is incredibly accurate with transfer information and has said we have pulled out, with Liverpool progressing with talks with Leverkusen; Paul Joyce & James Pearce are the best Liverpool journalists and state Liverpool are progressing with talks after we pulled out. The price bit is gamesmanship - we knew the price. What do you have to suggest anything to the contrary?

Really quite sad, reading some of the posts on this thread. Some serious mental health issues and desperate dans.
Mo Salah earns less than KDB. Wirtz will earn less than Mo Salah. I can’t believe some are still quoting finances. The club attempting to pull the wool over peoples eyes to save face. There’s no chance we have walked away for that reason yet the scousers have been able to afford it. He has turned city down, whether we thought at the time that was for Bayern or Liverpool is irrelevant as he has blatantly made it clear he doesn’t want to come to City. If he did, we’d get the deal done.

huge move from dippers. the surprise element too. like I doubt many at Bayern thought they will be beaten by them for him. they were like arrogant in the press about him, and had the thinking they may lose out because of Real or City.
interesting because not long ago dippers were knee deep in for Caicedo and Lavia and both decided they want Chelsea and said to Klopp fuck off.
