Despite the fun stuff yesterday - this looks like a lengthy tedious transfer saga.
And for clicks and sensations I would expect more of such drama.
Wirtz liking some Instagram story of Liverpool. Perez meeting his father in some shady Madrid bar. His family maid is a childhood Barcelona fan or what not.

Hopefully our other targets are straight forward. Milan and Juventus are always in the need for Money - that settles Rjinders and Cambiasso.
MGW has only two years left on his contract and he will hop to Etihad on one feet given a chance.
Even a high profile winger - Rodrygo is desperate to leave Madrid.
 
Expressing your interest in signing him isn't the same as working on a deal to sign him. This whole transfer is getting messy and it has only started
 
As an aside, this guy is one of France's most reliable reporters and is instead linking Cherki to the dippers.

Presuming their interest in Cherki and Wirtz is a one of the other job, not both.

 
I think with the uncertainty over his move and the fact that this could drag all the way through the summer, in order we don't get left with nobody, we have moved on to Reijnders now so that we get a player and a top target through the door.

If Wirtz does intent to move to City, we then move.

But in the meantime I think the club want a decent acquisition through the door just in case we have another Bellingham/ Rice scenario and we are left scrambling around because we missed our main target.

At least then if Wirtz does decide he doesn't want City, at least we have Reinjders through the door.

That's my thinking.
 
So the stuff from Ornstein & Kaveh seems like a steer from Liverpool to squash the Kicker chat that the Wirtz clan met with them. The other bit about having an interest is basically just what any top club would say about a top player
