Florian Wirtz

But when we are supposedly spending a huge fee on MGW its ”the club have a lot of money and have been net spend champions for years, who cares if its twice as much as he is worth its not our money”.
It’s not just the fee these days though. Wages, agents fee etc.

How many times have we had to read that Haaland cost more than 51m?

Bottom line is that Wirtz’s wages will be double MGW and the agent fee will be much higher as well. These are all things that matter within PSR as well.

I agree with just spend the money if the player is worth it but personally I’d rather us sign multiple players than one. Give me MGW, Reijnders, 2 Full backs, GK and potentially more.

That's a good question.....marmoush is a very good player but where does he fit in when Haaland is fit? I've asked this question a number of times recently....no one has answered...my thoughts was ge could play from wide but as you say I'm really not sure
IMO

Marmoush plays just behind Haaland

2 midfielders in Rodri and another

2 wingers

We need to change our style

MGW is not a player who wins you either the CL or the PL.....not even close - another overrated average and soon to be overpriced english player.

And Marmoush is a great goal scorer but he is not a creative no.10
Nottingham Forest were one of very few promoted teams who stayed up, and spent almost all of this season in the top 4. Gibbs-White is largely responsible for that. MGW can be a top player and is playing in a very average side whose play is concentrated on defence.

I mentioned Marmoush, not as an alternative to Wirtz, or as a no. 10, but because some people were claiming that City have not signed any decent players recently when Marmoush's stats prove that he is one of the best forwards in Europe. In the Premier League and Bundesliga he has Goals: 22, Assists: 9. His stats would be even better had he not moved league which is not easily done.

Just do a PSG. Upgrade the whole squad with the money which would’ve been for Wirtz. Players PSG signed were not world class but together they are a world class unit / team
Great example.

I still stand by if this was 2 summers ago we would do it because we had the core squad. Like when we signed Jack.

Do you all want Wirtz more than long term success?

Fair play to Liverpool for pulling it off, fair play to Leverkusen to saying fuck off to Munich, fair play to City for standing ground and seeing the bigger picture.

I’m all for it too, but Savinho is absolutely gash.
Savinho is 21 and played his first season in the Premier League. Like Doku he's not the finished article but he has something. Not all players are at their best aged 21. Some are e.g., Owen, Fowler, Foden, others develop but their talent at that age is obvious.

You shouldn't comment about football.

We will win the PL next season. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Savinho is the player of the season as well.

This summer is not about buying the shiniest toy or thinking there is a single player magic bullet who will solve all of our problems. It’s about signing round pegs for round holes to get the most out of Doku, Savinho, Foden and Haaland.

This side is chronically short of energy and movement in the final third. Get two energetic midfielders and fullbacks who can cover the pitch to provide more options going forwards and help prevent the counter, and you’ll see a completely different City side.
You will not find many more dynamic forwards than Marmoush or Haaland. The supply line is weak.

Exactly. Gibbs white isn’t going to win trophies on his own. But you pair him with Rodri and Reijnders that’s a different prospect.

Same with defence you pair Dias and Gvardiol with actual full backs you will see a better Gvardiol and Dias.

upgrade those areas also go for an attacker if we sell Grealish and we will look different from last season

Of course the cost is more than just a fee.
But the club thinking they can afford to spend 140m or so on players like Reis/Khusanov/Nico who struggle to even get minutes but cant afford to spend a similar amount on a player like Wirtz is one of many reasons the squad is such a mess.

Yeah if we build that team and then have all these developmental players as well it’s going to be really exciting

Sacha Tavolieri who broke the story says that when Wirtz met with City Pep wasn't there, but Arne Slot was when he went to Liverpool, and that made a difference. Said that ultimately though Wirtz told City he was going to Bayern, which was true at the time, but then changed his mind after meeting Liverpool, who offered him more money than City. Said that the deal to City was advanced and got to the stage where installments were being discussed with Leverkusen. Also that Liverpool signed Wirtz in part to boost the club's image after losing Trent, obviously he's a top player regardless but that's how he convinced FSG anyway. It's all a bit jumbled up though, so who knows what is true from that.

Reijnders is a prime example, we are about to spend 65m on him and he’ll be a star here I’m sure

Brat Wirtz. He’s a silly sausage.

We do need to make ourselves more attractive to this level of player though, after Bellingham, Rice now this **** still choosing history clubs over us despite what we’ve won and achieved recently. Why is this?

You don't win trophies without world class players. Wirtz is in that bracket and will be in that bracket for years to come.

And I think that allowing Liverpool to have a free run at Frimpong and now Wirtz will come back to bite us on the arse massively

At the same age, Riyad Mahrez was playing in Ligue 2 for Le Havre. Mo Salah was in Switzerland playing for Basel.

I will express frustration when players have a bad game but it's really sad to see how success has transformed so many on here into being cold, entitled and to be honest, cruel.
