Florian Wirtz

At the same age, Riyad Mahrez was playing in Ligue 2 for Le Havre. Mo Salah was in Switzerland playing for Basel.

I will express frustration when players have a bad game but it's really sad to see how success has transformed so many on here into being cold, entitled and to be honest, cruel.
have to put up numbers that match wingers who were here for years in a well coaching purring Pep machine or you're shite and never making it. So dumb.

Sacha Tavolieri who broke the story says that when Wirtz met with City Pep wasn't there, but Arne Slot was when he went to Liverpool, and that made a difference. Said that ultimately though Wirtz told City he was going to Bayern then changed his mind after meeting Liverpool, who offered him more money than City. Said that the deal to City was advanced and got to the stage where installments were being discussed with Leverkusen. Also that Liverpool signed Wirtz in part to boost the club's image after losing Trent, obviously he's a top player regardless but that's how he convinced FSG anyway.

Always thought it was a bit shit that Pep wasn’t there. Seems very careless of City to cock up like this and lose him to a hated rival if that’s actually true.

Savinho is 21 and played his first season in the Premier League. Like Doku he's not the finished article but he has something. Not all players are at their best aged 21. Some are e.g., Owen, Fowler, Foden, others develop but their talent at that age is obvious.

You shouldn't comment about football.
Savinho and Doku aren't good enough for where we want to be. And with the lack of genuine world class players around them, their flaws are shown even more.

Pep never gets involved directly but has been reported several times he spoke to Wirtz and family. And has done the same with other players in the past.

Them coming to city to talk would always be with Txiki, Viana, Ferran.

Nathan Ake was thought to be similar by some, how did that work out?
Has Ake been a huge success? Injury prone, can't command a permanent position even when fully fit. Ake is a good player who is comfortably a top 6/8 defender but he doesn't get into any of Liverpool/Arsenal/Madrid/Munich starting 11's

Don’t be ridiculous, there okay signings but no where near enough. This Reijnders guy has gone up levels since we’ve been linked with him. Nobody a month ago was asking for him. We suffer chronically with lack of creation and that’s before KDB leaving. So how does that get resolved…
Reijnders is the Serie A midfielder of the season.

If Foden pulls his finger out he could easily be close to current De Bruyne creativity levels.

Livramento is rapid and alongside Doku, we have some serious pace down the flanks.

Gibbs White is an option, but I reckon we can sign someone cheaper than Wirtz (€150m) and he can be worth his money

Not enough, be fighting for 3rd. Liverpool with the signings significantly stronger, Arsenal going in for Gyokeres , Rodrygo and already got Zubimendi.
Highly doubt Arsenal will get both.

Liverpool yes, have the best side in the league but doesn't mean we can't challenge them as we do have some serious talent if all players are at the top of their game.

Fannies everywhere.

He also said the wages were a problem as City thought Haaland's wages caused a problem internally with the other players, and didn't want a repeat of that. Plus they thought they could get Wirtz for less wages until Liverpool came in. That sounds like a minor thing though as City seemed to be in it until the Wirtz camp told them he wanted Bayern. The meeting with City looks like it lost it. Then the meeting with Liverpool won over Wirtz over Bayern. So City finished 3rd in this, but they did legit have concerns over the finances, so the PR wasn't a total lie, but it was a rejection. There's stuff that doesn't make sense though, the timeline of it is a bit nonsensical, so it's likley to have played out somewhat like this but but not exactly.

Not at all my point. He was deemed not good enough by many on here when we were interested. Fitness issues aside, he proved all those neigh sayers wrong.

There are no guarantees at all Wirtz will improve them or even stay fit.

What will be, will be

Makes sense why Liverpool went for Frimpong as a cheap rc. People now expect them to go for Rodrygo, Alvarez and Kerkez. It won’t happen.

Like us if we signed Wirtz it’s there whole budget I expect.

And what do they need most? A proper 9.

They are banking on Salah and/or good sales. No one is paying decent money for Darwin

Scott McTominay has been Napoli's best midfielder and he's fucking shite so that tells you all you need to know about Serie A.

Foden, for as good as he's been, will never reach KDB levels. That's just delusion at it's finest.

Livramento is bang average.

Gibbs White is also bang average.

All well and good signing these players but where's the world class players to supplement them?

Lots of kneejerk reactions on here. This season hasn't even finished yet, and people are writing us off for NEXT season. Me? I'm not going to make any rash predictions (past experience has taught me that doing that makes you look silly). I'll wait and see how the first few months of the new campaign goes. It's radical, I know.

You don't win anything with a team full of players at Ake's level. He's been a decent squad player when fit.

Of course there's no guarantees but there's a reason why Munich & Liverpool are linked with Wirtz and not Morgan Gibbs White

Yeah and judging by social media I think Slot was in Spain anyway when that meeting news was coming out... Maybe he was in a video call or something, who knows. I think this Sasha fella might be a chancer, and just got one bit of info, merely that he chose Liverpool first. He could well have concocted a story around the info.
