Florian Wirtz

You can only do what you’re able to do. If a player doesn’t want to sigh for us then that’s his choice and out of our hands. The flack Nunes gets is uncalled for, for me. You need squad players.

From what I’ve seen this Wirtz character looks frail as fuck and so who says he will succeed? The deal is worth £150m if you believe what info there is out there. If Liverpool blow their entire budget on that, it’s their gamble. Our spend could be a lot more wise and refresh what needs to be done.
I haven't got a problem with us not getting Wirtz, I have got a problem with our recruitment over the last few years ( similar to what happened with we won the league with Mancini and Pellegrini).

I'm also concerned we keep buying players who Pep publicly says are not good enough - Phillips and Nunes being the obvious ones and the way Gonzalez and Khusanov have been treated doesn't bode well.

I actually think Nunes is our most improved player this season and has settled in at fullback now he's got a consistent partner next to him but that doesn't explain why we bought him in the first place.

Losing a player of Wirtz's technical caliber, who is considered one of the best young playmakers, to Liverpool, one of our strongest rivals, is a strategic mistake by all standards and one that could haunt us for years to come.
We don't know the reasons. Some say it was because of the player's choice; if this is the case, then fair enough, as we can't do anything. But in the case of financial demands, as others support the information reported by City that the withdrawal from the deal was due to financial demands, if the reason was financial, then it's a wrong decision. If Liverpool can meet these demands, then we can too.

Saying that City withdrew to save face is a strange excuse. Real Madrid, for example, pursued Mbappé for years and didn't stop until they signed him. There's no saving face when securing the deal for exceptional talent.

Agreed with everything until the part about Nunes. He’s a total liability. I would love him to be a reliable squad player but for £50m he’s been a disaster.

Hedging your bets there pal.
Strategic mistake by all standards v fair enough if he didn't want us

Doesn't seem right though, I thought the PL had implemented something like the NFL draft whereby the best team could only sign mid-table players, or maybe that's just been something we've been doing since 2012.

They're the best team in the league currently and this will strengthen them for a number of years, exactly the sort of thing we should have been doing rather than Phillips, Nunes, Savio, Gundogan MK2 etc
If we've only signed mid table players since 2012, let's hope we continue to do that

How have we lost what we didn’t have?

Remember when we did the domestic treble, we lost KDB before the season started for a least 5 months, if I rightly recall, we went with Gundo and Bernardo. So to answer your question we will have to go with a slightly different system. You don't always need a number 10.
Exactly - look at what Madrid did under Zidane with Kroos, Modric and Casemiro.

Fair play to Liverpool for thier business, if he didn't want to come to us or we did pull out then that is life.

He could be great he may flop, either way that is not our problem plus try keeping Szlobozlai, McAllister and Wirtz happy when all after first name picks and one will inevitably be left out at times, unlss one is played deeper and all 3 start
Not to mention Gravenberch, that’s a world class midfield they have! Jones and Elliott to rotate in on cup games. They will definitely be stronger next year!

Hope it’s not because of our style of play though .

If you're chatting up a girl at the bar, and she says she appreciates your interest but she's more interested in a guy a bit further along the same bar, is that you walking away?
Yes, because otherwise you’re a fucking mug.

It says something about Wirtz and this transfer when both City and Bayern walk away.
We pulled put after he came over and it was apparent doing the deal would be more complex than we wanted

Bayern have accepted defeat after suggestion he want the scousers

neither of us walked away, neither of us were rejected as neither had bid yet

no one here comes out bad you win some you lose some, nowt fishy about it
