Florian Wirtz

We've always had that injury record barring Rodri. Stones, Ake, Akanji, De Bruyne etc have spent months of each out injured.

You think we're winning the league & Champions League again with a squad that contains Lewis, Reis, Kusonov, Nunes, Bobb, Echeverri, Doku, Savinho, a 34 year old Gundogan and no De Bruyne.

Lord above indeed
Yes.
If you choose to ignore the rest of the squad and all future movement, that is on you.

Because significant injury blighted us. If you do not recognise its impact, then there is nothing for me to add. Criminal? Lord above.

While I agree injuries have had a detrimental effect on this team. The standard of the squad has also played a major part.

Where we once had world class players like KDB, Bernardo and David Silva, Aguero, Walker Foden, Ederson, John Stones, Nasri, Rodri. How many do we have world class or even top players in the current squad.

I also think Pep needs to change tactic that will release our two strickers from the quagmire of this current system. It’s been found out.

Yeah - without him, we only won 4 in a row; the treble; CL. Think what we might have won with VDV. OH,,,, just a minute, nothing left is there
VVD has been the best centre back in the league over the last few years. He would have been perfect for City. Rarely injured and quality ball player. We wouldn’t have won any less, but we’d certainly have been a better team

You can only assume he would have made us better. The same argument holds as to whether he wouldn't have

But HE WOULDN’T come to us so we chose other players who won more for us than Liverpool ever will.

Every single player we bought last 2 summers got thousands of minutes this year. We have one of the best transfer records in the world in terms of success/failure.

My original opinion stands.
The problem is the success/failure list is levelling itself out

Haaland and Gvardiol have been successes but they didn't exactly require scouting

Doku the jury is out, as of now you'd probably say he's a failure because he's worse than what we replaced him for

Kovacic has been good, but we knew what we were getting with him he's mot exactly at the level of Dinho, Silva, Prime Gundo, KDB, Rodri and the players who came before him

Savinho I have faith in but again, from Mahrez to Savinho is a huge drop and Mahrez wasn't even picked every week

Akanji had an amazing first season but is playing like the fella we thought we were getting

Alvarez was our best signing and we sold him, unbelievable deal but he's genuinely world class and now we miss him

Nunes has been a failure, a solid pro but still a failure....Phillips also a failure

I have faith in Marmoush that he'll be a success, also hoping Khusanov and Nico Gonzalez have a future here, hopefully Pep puts his faith in them

That's just 3 years of windows

This has all come about from failing to strengthen when we were by some distance the best team on the planet.

Each summer we should have added another elite star to our team and improved even more, but instead we fucked about and acted complacent, or were afraid to upset the cartel, whatever the reason it was shit and wrong, and obvious.

We got away with some bang average signings because we had such a great first team, but over time, age has eroded that level and the ones we’re left with, barring two or three, are more Aston Villa/Brighton level than Real Madrid/Bayern level.

All that is down to poor squad planning or not enough aggression in the transfer market when we had the pulling power to get pretty much anyone if we’d paid enough. Now we’re starting from a lower and less stable level; how long is Pep here? What and when is the outcome of these fucking charges? Will we even be in the CL next season? Hopefully the latter works out today and we can start planning, but I feel aiming for the likes of MGW instead of going balls out for Wirtz is just Nunes instead of Rice/Bellingham all over again.

Something seems wrong with our transfer ambition, almost like we have imposter syndrome and won’t challenge the ‘history’ club dickheads for the stars. If that changed we’d be unstoppable again.
