FlyBE

Since Manchester, London, Glasgow etc are far short of 2,000 miles from BHD/BFS, then the APD is £13 each way as I previously said. In fact I don't think there are any flights from Northern Ireland to destinations which are over 2,000 miles away. (Obviously this does not include seasonal charter flights to Florida/Caribbean).

The point of mentioning the NI APD was that the Tories CAN actually do stuff when its in their interest to do so (such as get the DUP Confidence & Supply bribe completed) All that was needed to keep Flybe afloat was another band of APD rates either lowering or removing the tax for internal flights .... well within their power and current majority. (

There are many remote regions in the UK reliant on airlines like Loganair and flybe for connectivity ... which would go towards the 'levelling up' they promised.

More than 1,300 Flybe staff who have lost their jobs could also lose their pensions, it has emerged.

Workers risk suffering a big shortfall in old age because the money saved for their retirement is not protected.

Former staff will also be affected. Members of the pension fund are among 2,400 stunned staff to have lost their jobs after the airline collapsed.

Their plight contrasts sharply with Flybe’s wealthy owners, which include Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic, 69, and a US hedge fund.

They are among well-off investors likely to recover money from Flybe going into administration this week. Pension schemes are usually guarded by the Pension Protection Fund, which comes to the rescue when firms go to the wall.
