Replied though that every time I fill one of these things in, everything duly rises in price a short time later!
I bought a meat an potato pie when all this new food stuff started last season!
It was tiny, bland and bloody expensive!
Never bought a thing since and never will again at the prices asked last season!
....got a reply too! ....."we'll pass on your comments to the appropriate dept.! ..blah blah"
....they'd sell 5 times more if they just priced it sensibly!!
I understand what you're saying mate, we'd all love it if the food was great quality at a knock down price. Unfortunately the world doesn't work like that. City / Legends hospitality will have economists working for them who will use the results of the survey to work out what is the most profitable way to price the food and drink.
Of course they would sell more volume of product if it was cheaper, but it doesn't mean it would be more profitable for the club.
Well I'm certainly no economist but the queues outside the chippy at the rear of the south stand half an hour before KO certainly outweigh the queues inside the stadium shortly before KO.
That's all I have to go on and I have to say that after Lindleys contract was done (which was awful in all respects) I really thought this was a major opportunity for City to step in theirselves (or offer a quality franchise) which offered value for money for a quality product!
All the hype about Marco Pierre White and Jamie Oliver was (and is) all bullshit and just an excuse to raise prices!! If you can't see that and you're happy to pay £4.00 for a pie then you've been well and truly duped my friend!!
The mark up on said pie is, on average, 200-300% so there's loads of room for manoeuvre but the facts are the club are happy to exploit the hungry! the pissed up! the can't wait any longer because they're trapped inside the stadium!! ..etc ..etc..
It's business and if you can afford to pay it well done but it ain't sustainable!!
I'm not happy to pay extra because Jamie Oliver's name's on it. But I'd rather pay the extra 50p and get it from the ground as opposed to walking the 5 minutes to the chippy. If others want to do the opposite, good luck to them too.
I'd love it to be cheaper and better quality, we all would. What I'm saying is that the club will do their research on what is the most profitable price to charge. As you pointed out, they could shift more volume if they dropped the prices. But you're not taking in to account the additional logistics, staffing and catering costs that would take. It would reduce the margins.
You say it's not sustainable the way it is, but I'm sure the clubs research paints a different picture to your opinion.
