Every year or so there's a similar story from Dubai. Don't know why anyone goes there. If it's not this, it's a woman getting arrested for the terrible crime of being raped.

If you go somewhere you gen up on their laws and customs - you know how people want visitors here to do? - then do shit that doesn't fall foul of their laws. As for the sanctions thats their call - you know sovereign country controlling its own laws and so on?

Does that really apply to Dubai, a hypocritical County that only consists of malls and nightclubs in the desert? They're happy to take tourists money, including during the pandemic last year when thousands of Brits went into self-imposed lockdown exile.

Emirati nationals are minority in their own country, do you think harsh Islamic punishments is reasonable in the circumstances?

I'd not take or be caught with CBD oil there - mainly because I wouldn't go to a country with such repressive views - if someone came from a country who had a relaxed view on a certain substance that was more relaxed than ours or who had more draconian laws - that is their right. I don't agree with it but so what? They don't listen to me?

Is it though? If you become a minority in your own country maybe you don't get to dictate laws in the same way. The reason they still do is because they still retain the mechanisms of power, restrictive naturalisation and exploitative migrant labour laws.
