Football league teams City have never played in our history

My home town team, Yeovil Town, had a few years of success in the EFL, reaching the Championship. Sadly they went straight down and it almost destroyed the club. They are in the National League under new ownership, having narrowly avoided administration or a wind-up, and out of the FA cup already. Would love them to survive and get an away game at the Etihad next season or beyond.
Ishmael Miller had a couple of decent seasons there during that run, think he was top scorer one year

Re Accrington Stanley, yes that’s fair, same name but the modern incarnation are essentially a phoenix club who were formed in the late 60s after the club we played in the 1930s folded two years earler
So a bit like ‘Rangers’ in Scotland, who were reformed after similarly being liquidated

I thought we'd played Rochdale.......I was there with my lad and Kenny Carr made his debut:-)
Pre-season, think we won 4-0 or 6-0. The announcer certainly confused the City fans when he named our sub as Kenny Carr.
The 4-0 League Cup win (which many who were there forget about) was in the 72-73 League Cup.

Just checked - we never played Aberdare Athletic (football league 1921 - 1927).
Pretty sure we’d have smashed them as they’ve all got tiny legs.

Aberdare are on my list of teams to see and grounds to visit as there is some link between the current club and the one that played in the league. And they play on the original ground.

What's all this nonsense about never having played Bristol City?

I can remember City drawing 2-2 with Bristol City at Maine Road in 1965. Ralph Brand scored one of his two goals for City. I also remember going to a 1-1 draw in the return match that season at Ashton Gate.
The highlights of the Ashton Gate game is shown at the start of the BBC video on Bell, Lee and Summerbee.
